I have just one Question in steps 3 and 4 on (LOG IN PLAYONLINE VIEWER) will the one time password be the random token password or a special password SE gives you from the website for final link of your new SE account to your old POL ID.

When you log in, it will be like normal., however there will be an additional screen with 2 prompts.
security token log in screen
One will be for the password to your square enix security account.
The other will be for the one-time-password from your security token.

make sure you go into the settings and change one time password to Use.

settings

Please note you cannot save the SE security account password.
(yes, you're entering 2 passwords each time you log in)

I got my token yesterday, and the instructions are quite clear.
Everything makes more sense when you actually have the token in your hands and you follow the directions.

As a side note, I logged in yesterday morning before I installed my token and I was fine, but after installing the token and linking it to my account I get numerous POL errors (3001, 0011 etc) for "network issues".
I cannot log into my main character, but my mule logs in fine?

I'm trying again this morning, in case it was some freak occurrence.
Didn't work this morning when I tried to log in, still gave network issues errors. Logged in tonight with success tho.

My guess is everyone's activating tokens and bogging down SE'd servers lol

Word of warning: Older POL accounts (NA launch) currently have an issue where you cannot link your account.

Token arrived today: Woohoo!

SE account set up, everything set up...

Tried to log into POL... "Square Enix or one time password is incorrect"

I tried multiple times and it said every time that my password was wrong, yet the same password works on the website-- just not on POL ><

Ok, I want to log in though and play. So I disable the token on the website.

I log in, no Mog Satchel... ok, maybe I should try reactivating it.

It wont' reactivate.

No I'm ****** with a useless token and no mog satchel.

You used the exact same password? The password changes every 30 seconds. Trying multiple times suggests that the password would've changed at least 1 during that time.

I used a different password every time I tried. I don't know what to do now. I should not have deactivated the token. Now I'm *******

Q. Can I stop using my security token if I don't want to use it anymore?
A. You can remove your Square Enix security token from your account using the Square Enix Account Management System, but once you have done so, you will never be able to use it again.

This is what SE put on the information page for the Security token when the latest details came out. What that says to me, is that you may be able to use another one. No guarantees, but there may be hope.

Quote:
Q. If I remove my Square Enix security token, will I still be able to obtain a Mog Satchel?
A. Characters from PlayOnline IDs that are linked to a Square Enix account will not be able to acquire a Mog Satchel after the security token has been removed. Existing Mog Satchels will not be affected.

As to whether this means you cannot obtain one after purchasing another one, that is also a question that only SE can answer. I would contact the Information Center ASAP and try to get it worked out. Hopefully they'll be understanding and you'll only have to purchase a new token. Then it's only a $9.99 mistake. Best of luck to you.

I knew this would happen. I just ******* knew it. You seriously have no idea how bad this feels. This is always the kind of **** that happens.

Is it really true? I can't ever get a mog satchel now?

More so, I worry that I will never be able to log into my account at all now because I need the token to log in and it's gone forever. At the very least, I might be able to get another token, maybe one that won't bug out POL and tell me my password is wrong.

I think I know what I did wrong now though:

I registered the token, and tried logging in with it, and it didn't work.

I did not click "Link Settings" so it was not linked to my POL account, that is why it didn't work at first.

Then I disabled it so I could get onto FFXI thinking I could try again later. Then logged in, logged back out to try and get it to work with Mog Satchel.

THEN I figured out I needed to link the account with Link Settings.

After I linked my account, I am now locked out from playing FFXI and need a non-existant token to get on ><

If I wasn't absolutely exausted and stressed out and had a goddam fever I wouldn't have ****** this up. But this is my whole ******* life right here, this is how everything happens.

You should be able to set the "One time password" to "Do Not Use" on the login settings. Then it won't ask you for the password. I'm just guessing, as I'm at work (slacking) and don't have my Token yet. But seriously, call the Information Center for help.

If you removed the token from your SE account, then it shouldn't need the token to log in. In your POL settings, change the "One Time Password" setting to "Not Use". That should let you log in.

I did remove it all, and selected "Do not use" and went back to trying to log in as I did before. But now that the token is linked to my account, I cannot log in-- even when all it asks me for is my normal POL password.

I think I just have to order another one now, but then I don't think I can because I cannot log into POL.

Oh God, I just realized that.

I tried calling the information center and getting on the Live Chat, both are unavailable. I sent them an email explaining the situation.

I was tired and stressed out before any of this happened. Yes, I am QQing, big time, but it is not without a very good reason.

At first I felt like a kid who'd gotten a lump of coal for Christmas when the token didn't work (because I screwed up and didn't link it which I didn't realize at the time) Now I feel like a kid who got a lump of coal, and who's parents are both ******* impaled on the tree. All I can do now is lay here, helpless, and wait for another day of work to come.

Update:

So far I have read that once the Information Center gets my email, they will make my account accessible again without a token.

As for the mog satchel, I have read this;

Quote:
What is required in order to use the Mog Satchel?

Quote:
By linking the PlayOnline ID you wish to use the Mog Satchel from "Link Setting" menu, and by setting the security token from "Security Expansion" menu, characters under the linked PlayOnline ID can use the Mog Satchel.

So I think this means all I have to do is link my account and have a security token registered to get the satchel. I wouldn't make sense for me not to get it, as it's not an actual item-- rather, a function within the game itself. At the very least, I could probably get a GM to fix it if that is the case once I get another token if it still does not work.

Hopefully people will read all of this and not make the same stupid mistake I did ><

This is what you get for operating machinery when you're tired and stressed out and trying to hurry through things. I will say the same thing I have told my LS in the past a million times: {Haste} makes waste.

I am having the same issue. I set it up, activated and linked my account and triple check everything, but now it is saying that I have an "invalid user name or password".

Too bad I am at work today, otherwise I would try and figure it out. I wonder it has anything to do with being intoxicated while setting it up?
#18 Apr 17 2009 at 6:57 AM Rating: Decent
Support center will be open soon.

Also I think the mog satchel would work after you logged into your char a couple times, it registers you have the token working, then once unlocked its yours to keep. However you deactivated it before you even logged in. =/

We knew there would be some set backs in this system. Tho the read about "Trial accounts" is interesting.. and is ******** more people out. So your not alone. =/

Unlinking does NOT mean you cannot ever use a token again. It means you've rendered that particular token useless and cannot use THAT token again.

Kuwoobie, I'm sorry to hear that :(

I think it may be fixable, though, at least enough to log you in. I'm at work and I can't see the PoL screen, but I remember I was playing around with this a while back, and I made myself unable to access my account for a little bit. I needed to go into my account settings (on the initial login screen, where you can enter your passwords and such) and change the account name from my SE account back to my original PoL account, the "ABCD1234" thing they gave you.

I wish I could explain better, but like I said... at work ; ;

I'm having a devil of a time finding the 'link services' page from my Squeenix Account. I created the account a while back, and my token arrived today, but I can't seem to find where to link the dang thing to my POL/Squeenix accounts. /fume

Edit: may have found it from the link to BG that someone added as I was typing up my frustration. We'll see if that works. :3

yeah evidently my error was I went in to link my SE account to the token, and for some reason it just didn't work, (I confirmed with SE tech support).

So maybe in the congestion some information packets being eaten by SE?

I will try to re-link account tonight!

wow, I also am locked out of my account and waiting the required 2hour wait for a service rep to get to me... SE is just full of win lately.

You should add that the mog satchel is not immediately accessible and you may have to log out and back in for it to appear.
