So as everyone knows, anytime some one new asks what server to play on they get an instant sub-default and told every sever is exactly the same. While it doesn't really matter what server you start on if you are new, there are differences, if even minior, server-to-server.

So to clear up some confusion and questions many people have about the different servers, I thought it'd be nice to hear what everyone's opinion is on THEIR server, or a server they have personally spent 3+ months on.

It doesn't matter what you post about it. Post about what you think about it, the economy on it, your most hated RMT's, the best linkshells, the fun social shells, silly shouts in whitegate, the adventure's you've had on it, your opinions on it. Anything! (Just keep the big drama out) I want everyone's opinion on what their server is like, love it or loathe it. I want opinions, and thoughts. Think of this as "Show and Tell" server style.

As you all know I post anonymously, so I can not really go into detail about my server unfortunately. But I want to see what everyone's opinion on their server is. So post away!

Garuda's pretty cool. Though we do have some of the biggest morons(Best known being Anna.) and people who get 75 in level 12 gear. It's about 60% cool people, and 30% elistist with some portion of those being a mix.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but I don't really see the point. Most of us have only ever played on one server, and therefore have no frame of reference.

That said, Pandemonium is the BEST server I have ever played on!

it's also the worst.

I was being sarcastic. Anyway, personally I like Titan server better because I have real life friends on there and we were all in the same Dynamis shell.

Garuda was fun while I was there but near the end of my time there people just became outright jerks.

Edit: I once partied with Anna before she became famous on the boards. We did an ENM run in Promyvion-Dem and she was /anon as WHM at the time and we didn't realize she was /THF until I saw her steal from the Weeper she aggroed on the third floor. Subsequently, she was the only one who died and she didn't bring a ReRaise so we ended up quitting.

This isn't meant to be a set-in-stone guide or compilation. I just want people's opinions, mainly just for fun, and hopefully some serious opinions. Just to see what people's views are.

My friend went to bahamut for awhile and said alot of the sky LS' there were in brand new territory. Like; alot didn't know what kirin's osode was, and the end-game scene wasn't populated hardly at all. Take that bahamut. o.O

But um. Seraph isn't as crowded as it use to be, either. We have one of the greatest mini-communities across many servers, IMO. The SeraphCentral community and it's linkshell groups that run regular Garrisons, and assaults. Yup. Garrisons. They run garrisons like most of you would run Dynamis, twice a week. This is a great community for new players, especially considering the fact that the low level ranges are very very low populated at the moment, and sometimes you can feel so cut off from the rest of the populace when starting out new. There are only a handful of social LS that I can remember that are still going but they are always inviting new players, and there are some pretty reliable ones out there. If only I didn't see that messg on my f-list elminster, your hellswrath social LS has done great things for many new players, please remember that when you consider leaving FFXI.

We don't have too much end-game drama these days either. Unless you hate SenseofUnityII. but I think it's the going fad atm to do so. Or atleast the leader. *shrug*

I've been on Fenrir my whole time playing FFXI. Even after I left and thought I was done with the game I still came back to it. Plenty of drama went down back in the day between HNM LS's but I still remember the server got together during the big trent event where all over the world there were big ******* trents running around.

The level cap was 20 for the event and it was pretty much rushing the trent with whatever we had over and over till it was dead. It was like every single person on the server, NA and JP, were trying to take this big sucker down. It had a AOE knock back move that sent everyone flying so that was funny to watch.

I remember also being part of an alliance of only SAMs looking for the s.gusta trent. Some JP guy found it and shouted where it was and we all ran over there as an alliance. After finding it I was part of and witness to the most badass thing I've ever seen...18 SAMs using their 2hr on this huge ******* thing at the same time, spamming Tachi: Enpi. Distortions were flying left and right, it was nuts. I think we took 5% off of it or something like that within seconds.

Fenrir ended up winning the server-wide event and was the first server to get outpost warps. They were given to everyone else like a month later I think.

Anyway, that's the best story I got when it comes to Fenrir coming together as a server.

Thank you FenrirXIII & Maxom. thats the EXACT type of posts I'm looking for, people sharing their opinions and stories like that. And that sounds pretty cool as well. I figure if people can at least see what others opinions on servers are, they get get a ballpark idea of what they're looking for, and perhaps stop asking which server to choose so often, and instead can just read the opinions on them and decide for themself. Since that's about as much as you can do. I also think its fun hearing about the other servers and why people feel how they do about them, and what they have to say.

Valefor sucks for the most part. Nice enough people on it with of course a few exceptions but it's not a very big server and the EU scene is not as good as it should be.

Well i switched from midgardsormr to ifrit a few months back, and really the only changes i could find was that EVERYBODY in midgard was based in jeuno (all the tele-whores were there, and all the bazaars too) while in ifrit EVERYBODY is based in aht urghan whitegate.

I was frustrated at first that i couldn't find any teles in jeuno when i switched.

Apparently Garuda also does the @ symbol differently then most other servers. We do it it symbolize how many people we have, while from what I heard other Servers do it to show how many are needed.
#16 Jan 03 2008 at 5:40 PM Rating: Decent
When people shout for missions and help:

Garuda
<Player> : Assault {Do you need it?} @3 {/tell} {please}

Note: The typical Garuda server shout only shows how many people the group has so far.

Titan
<Player> : Assault {Do you need it?} 3/6 {/tell} {please} ME PAYS U LOTS!!1

Note: The typical Titan server shout shows how many people are in the group / how many people are needed or how many people the leader wants for the particular event.

Another thing I noticed is on Garuda everyone bazaared in Rolanberry Fields. In Titan, everyone bazaars in Sauromugue Champaign.

Ragnarok isn't a bad place. We certainly have a heavy diversity in cultures, not sure about other servers, but we have alot of unique folks playing at any given time.

I'll be honest in saying that I don't have many friends on the server, but I have no real gripes about the community as a whole. Besides, we have quite a few Allakhazam frequenters on our server, so we can't be THAT bad. Or are we...

I post anonymously because I don't like my views on message boards to be discussed in game, where I'm pretty peaceful. I use to not post anonymously and people would send me /tells in game asking why I said what, or asking about stuff I said on message boards. I like keeping my game life and message board life seperate. It's just a preference.

I never create drama on message boards either, I come in and like to hear people's opinions and discuss mine as well. I like being anonymous. It's just my personality, I like being a little mysterious. Is that so wrong?

I don't think you like being a little mysterious. I think you are afraid. Afraid of the dark and the evil that men do. Afraid of the iron and the death and the gas. Afraid of the trenches and the constant bombardment of marmalade at the front lines.

Yes it is wrong. It makes you a coward. A believer in injustice. An enemy of the people.

Loads of sky/dynamis LS.

Never lost Besieged, Campaign is always active.

Overall very active server with good player base.

I just switched servers and don't know much yet about Fairy but Fenrir is the server you want if you like pvp. The Death Dealers, Dirge of Ballista, and The Blade Runners linkshells all call that server their home and they not only ballista regularly but also hold their own tournaments.

I've been playing over 2 and a half years, with one long 8 month break. I've played on Leviathan mainly, but played on both titan and sylph at one point , for about a month each time (both times becuase a good friend of mine and I had fallen out, - we both have very hot tempers and take a while to cool down)

I prefer Leviathan overall - I have many friends there, and have always found it easy to have the help I needed. Theres some great linkshells on the server, including a couple of EU ones I use when my main LS is quiet. As someone who returned as a completely new character, I've also found people very helpful about giving advice, and even experienced a random act of kindness before I'd fought my first mob - someone invited me to party, and more or less demanded I lot on a ra/ex katana ( Katayama) that had dropped from a low level NM .

That said, I found neither Titan or Sylph to be unfriendly, and found just as much help there. I think for me, its just a case of Leviathan was my first ffxi home, and probably always will be .
