I apologize in advance for bumping this.
This thread belongs in the Special Task Force forum. Uffie will have done more to improve the game than anyone else on that forum by simply justifying RMT, admitting to buying GIL, and then talking about the bots he uses. I actually don't care at all that you buy gil. I think the best thing for SE to do about suspected GIL buyers is simply to publish their names and a list of their transactions--much like FFXI AH does with regular transactions. "Banning sellers and shaming buyers" was my suggestion to the STF forum.
As for using bots, that's another story altogether. I appreciate that you have a busy life, but so do I. And when I'm taking what little free time I do have to play this game, I frankly don't want to compete against computer programs that operate with a whole range of advantages that I don't have. And no, you in fact don't have a right to play this game with a bot and thus ruin my experience--that's what the ToS is for. So basically, you're one of those people who put a narrow view of their own self interest before the collective good. Actually, no, let me rephrase--you're one of those people for who put your own STATUS above the collective good. More specifically, you care more for what other people think of you than you do for other people. That's nothing short of pathetic.
You can tell an awful lot about a person by what makes them proud. Being so proud to post your gil-buying and botting on an FFXI website makes you special indeed--but not "special" in a good way.

wouldnt it be better if you could just have played the game, worked towards what you needed, and saved all that stipend money? Doesnt it make you mad to have to be forced into shelling out what must be quite a large sum of money just to participate in ffxi? What about all the others, who cant justify it, or would like to play the game as intended, without having to deal with middlemen whose sole purpose is to make themselves rich by controlling and denying parts of a game you enjoy?

This is something that people in certain ghetto-y areas like to do for fun, and to show off thier skills in putting together the best 'hooked-up' car that they can, with the limited resources available.
At some point in the film, some white-boys from some richy-rich area roll through into the 'hood, and show off their car, which is taken to near-perfection as far as this sub-culture can tell.
Now, can you guess the reaction from the hard-core people?
