Just got back into the game today for the first time in a while. It's taken all day to get most stuff set up. I've been messing with the ffxi and pol configurations, but for some reason I can't seem to get the D-pad to work the way I want. I remember when using a controller for the ps2, I used the D-pad to control the cursor to target stuff. Really important to target something quickly or alternate targets.

Anyone familiar with an Xbox controller for PC? I'd love to get this figured out. It is amazing at how hard it is to get a guide on this. I've read bits and pieces for this topic all over the internet. Most of it very old info. Only reason that matters is that it covers windows xp and 7 mostly. I'm on windows 10. Sadly, I remember this working once upon a time and the triggers not working. Triggers work, but now the D-pad not working with the cursor.

Hit the "default" or "setup A/B/C" preset and it will force XI to properly detect the drivers.

Thank you. That is one thing I did not try. I really can't seem to play the game without the ability of using the cursor to target things. I never managed to start the game, so I deleted it. Reinstalling now to see if this works. I might have to purchase another controller that might work, but the keyboard/mouse option doesn't work for me at all. I really wish Logitech made the mini keyboard/controller for PC like they did for PS2. That was just the best. Wish me luck on this one.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnlineUS\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI

Right-click, Modify padmode000 and replace the value with:

1,1,1,1,0

Then modify padsin000 and replace the value with:

8,4,-1,5,9,1,3,0,2,-1,-1,-1,-1,33,33,32,32,36,36,35,35,41,41,40,40,7,6

This got the D-Pad working, but I had some issues with my controller because it seems to stick in direction. I notice sometimes I have to tap on the analog stick once in a while to set the camera angle straight or the character straight, but it's not an issue. On FFXI, it's a huge issue. If I could just figure out what numbers fix the D-Pad to control the cursor, I'd be golden......so close....

edit: Nevermind. I found an old PS3 controller and plugged it in. Worked right away. Funny stuff.
