Can you solo the missions? Like Zilart, Cop, Nation's?Follow

#1 Dec 25 2015 at 11:24 PM Rating: Decent
I really want to play again to finish the story but not sure how I would finish the missions since I lost my old account.

I remember doing RotZ, Cop, ToAU, and halfway WotG, no to mention Sandy's missions and they were extremely hard back then.

Are those soloable now? Doing those at the game's peak was tough. With the population so low now and most characters are done with missions, how am I supposed to finish the story.

I just want closure.

Thanks.

Most old story content will be a cakewalk with some easily obtainable gear and Trust NPCs helping you. There will be a few gimmicky missions that may still be a pain, but I was able to 2 box them all. Adoulin missions will still require help though.

Everything from Zilart through WotG is essentially soloable (I've just finished most of them). BST + 5 trusts makes just about any mission a cakewalk. Only thing that can hold you back is some of the nation path quests (required to advance WotG). One of them from Bastok involves keeping an NPC alive, which is near impossible solo unless you're on BLU. The NPC has next to no HP and gets hit hard. That being said, you can avoid that quest line entirely if you just go with another nation. I'm sure there's probably a few other missions with slight team road blocks, but if you get a social shell, help isn't usually an issue.

Adoulin, I'm about 3/4s of the way through and haven't required any help as of yet. Though, I've been told I would probably need some for the final battles.

I had luck with that Bastok quest on GEO believe it or not. The -ra spells worked pretty nicely for getting their attention.

Every mission in this game is soloable - including rhapsodies and adoulin, believe me I did it.

I don't think some jobs are going to have an easy time soloing some of the later adoulin missions + last fight in rhapsodies, though. Many jobs will need to rely on their trusts and these fights can devour your trusts (whether it's their HP, or their MP then their HP) exceptionally fast.

Also keep in mind that from a perspective of a been-i119-for-a-while character, a lot more will seem doable. Someone using a new character or a not-played-since-pre-Abyssea character is going to find these harder missions a lot more daunting.

I agree some jobs will have a hard time some of the missions took me weeks or monthis or trying til I finally got em done - but it wasnt just month or trying it was months of going back to the drawing board and thinking how i can improve? until I eventually got em done. And yes I agree that someone new to the game isn't going to find some of the later stuff particularly easy.

I seem to recall that the last time I helped someone with that Bastok WotG mission, being on WHM with Afflatus Solace helped quite a bit. That made it much less of a pain in the *** than I remembered it used to be.

And if you think just avoiding Bastok will help with the WotG quest lines, there's one for Windurst that has waves of mobs attacking just outside Windurst. But there are "wards" that die quickly, you can't heal them, and the mission is lost when they are gone. No way you're doing that one solo without some good AoE damage.

But yeah, with trusts and good iLvl gear, almost anything is soloable with a job that can hold its own solo.

that bastok wotg mission where you have to keep the scholar girl alive. it's a nightmare to do solo.

The best part of Final Fantasy XI is its rich storyline. It separates this game from other MMORPGs. I chose to give my character a storyline that goes along with the game's storyline. I find that this is a more fun way to play the game. Playing the game just to fight in the endgame and collect elite equipment is very boring and is totally missing the main objective of the game, which is to guide your character through the storyline which is to save the world.

I am still on the verge of a come back. I did see you can lvl gear past 99, where do i find a guide to walk me through getting these high lvl gear?

Guide to obtaining gear past lvl 99 - step 1 search for "records of emminence" and store up some sparks, step 2 buy the job universal set for your job clothes and weapon, that should give u ilvl 117 gear (and is easy to get), Step3 - search for and/or any of reforged artifact/relic/empy or alluvion skirmish gear. Any of the sets in step3 should put you on your way to ilvl119 gear.
