I've always loved FFXI's lore, but I haven't played since mid-WotG. I've found videos of all the cutscenes of WotG on YouTube, and most for Abyssea, but it's nearly impossible to find anything about SoA. Does anyone known of a place where I can find more information about the latest expansion's plot? I'd be grateful for short summaries from first hand experience too.

Because the storyline just got wrapped I doubt any one will be posting videos due to spoilers. A lot of people haven't finished it yet. Myself included haha

It'd be different it had been finished like a year ago but it's only been a few months, thus it didn't warrant an exact time...

I'm quite curious about the storyline too. Just a brief one paragraph would suffice.

Honestly, I found SoA to be one of the less engaging storylines; I liked WotG, Promathia and ToAH better. That said, the cut scenes and story-telling elements of SoA were absolutely top-notch, and many of the systems implemented in this expansion (WKR, skirmish, delve, etc...) are, in my opinion, some of the best game mechanics SE has done.

The Character arrives in the Holy City of Adoulin. Ruled by the heads of 12 orders, Adoulin is an isolated city. 800 years ago, attempts were made to colonize the continent of Ulbuka, but those were abondened as the land itself seemed to fight back against the incursion. the Character befriends Princess Arciela, a direct descendent of Adoulin, the Founder King, who wields his blade. Together, you discover that Adoulin planted a sapling of the World Tree, the twin trees lived in Rhazowa (unseen continent so far) and Ulbuka. The Rhazowa tree was burned by an invading orcish army, and the tree in Ulbuka has been poisoned, and is slowly dieing.

Along with Arciela, you discover that there was more to the Founder King's story and his mysterious disappearance. While exploring the continent, he and his companions discovered a great evil lurking beneath the earth. They fought and contained this threat, but were not able to destroy it. Yggdrasil, the World Tree has expended its energy trying to hold back the threat of this evil as it beging to strengthen under the leadership of Hades. The Character and Arciela recruit two of Adoulin's former companions--Morimar, his top general, and Sajj'aka, the holy dragon--as well as a defector of Hades' forces and a creature of the forest, to finally confront and defeat Hades.

That, in a few paragraphs, is pretty much the SoA story. There are of course many more detailed steps along the way, and the devs did do a good job--better than normal I think--is developing the backstory and history of this city and continent.
