So I canceled my FFXI account some number of months ago and I thought I'd take advantage of this free time to see if I can feel the same magic I felt when I started playing back in February of 2005. But when I tried to log in through PlayOnline, I'm told I must go and reactivate my account. I've been reading that others are simply logging in without having to do anything other than just... log in!
I saw a post on Square-Enix's forum where a couple decided to check things out this week and one was able to log in normally and the other was told he'd have to re-activate his account.
So why is this working for some and not for others? I have never been banned for the game nor have I ever been reprimanded or put in "jail" by a GM. How are we supposed to log in? I can't even log in to the Square-Enix FFXI forums without actually paying a monthly subscription fee!

When you left, did you just cancel your content IDs or the account itself? If the latter, I'm not really sure what to suggest, but nothing should be required if you did the former.

I'm having the same problem, I cancelled my content IDs (not my account, I'm currently playing FFXIV on the same SE account) but I can't seem to log into FFXI without reactivating
