Any Welcome Back Campaigns? Follow
I played on and off for a long time and stopped a few years ago for good. Final Fantasy XIV: ARR is doing a free weekend for returning players, maybe new player too, and I was wondering if FFXI still does this? I remember them doing it a few times but not recently. I would love to see my old character again, and not have to pay for it... I love to walk around, listen to music, get high on nostalgia, kill my hated enemies, Sheep and Orc in West Ronfaure. Ahh the god old days.
Anyway, do they do it still? When was the last one? Do you expect they will do it again soon? Thank you.
Not exactly a "Welcome Back" Campaign, but I find the Login Campaigns are awesome for people returning to the game.
You can get lots of awesome stuff out of it and it tends to happen every month. Whether you wanna max out your gobbiebags for free (with the Stew 880s), or get your LB99 quest items by the loads (they are very cheap), or maybe NM pop items if you want some gil, the login campaign is awesome for that.
They usually have some other kind of campaign going on too, IIRC the one right now is better salvage results or some-such. They've had double XP, and something to do with Abyssea in the past I think.

They did one in Dec or so IIRC. They don't do them often. Check back here we pretty much post about every campaign (Szabo really)
Think last December was the only time they'd done a spontaneous freebie campaign. Only other time I can they gave out free time was due to the tsunami knocking out the servers and them just really reimbursing players with a free month who'd been subbed. Part of me's curious about how successful the December run was, though, or if it might've even been a precursor to F2P XI.

On Friday, August 29 we'll be kicking off the Double Capacity Point Campaign. Please be sure not to miss out on this opportunity to save up points for the new enhancement categories that were added in the August version update!
Welcome Back Campaign
Starting on Friday, September 12 we'll be holding a Welcome Back Campaign. Players that are taking a break will be able to return to Vana'diel and adventure again.
We're planning a lot of other campaigns, so please stay tuned for more information!
Additionally, we've been receiving feedback asking for campaigns to take place on the weekdays as well, so we will be looking into the days in which we hold these campaigns.
