in eu, but need us version of new expansion pack!Follow

Hi

would like to come back to ffxi for a look around if nothing else, but id like to get the new expansion pack first, problem is i'm in the eu and playing from a us account from when i imported the game all those years ago as it took forever to come out in europe! i toyed with the idea of buying the whole pack on steam and starting afresh with a new account, but cant really bring myself to start over! so was wondering whats the best way to get hold of a US license key for seakers? dont really want to import a physical copy as with import tax this can be expensive, i did it with previous expansions but dunno how long im going to stay now.. so can i get a download key from the square enix us store here? http://store.na.square-enix.com/store/sqenixus/en_US/pd/ThemeID.29853700/productID.264837700#.U629c7GmVwp i figure it should work as long as the store doesn't automatically recognize im in the eu and give me an eu key instead! or block any payments outside the US?

this or something similar work for other people playing an import copy? i know there was a lot of us back in the day!

Might try ebay as well - if you bought the US xbox disc (unopened) you could use that code to unlock it on your account. Or make a deal with someone in NA, you give them money, they buy you a code... but you'd want to have trust on both sides for that to work.

Codes are device neutral, so code from that disc would work. Might be an easier way or a harder and less expensive way (I don't know) but since most ebay folks ship pretty much anywhere it's a decent way to get region locked stuff.

Sounds good! Which server did you end up on?

At 99 /WAR is best DD sub but I personally use /rdm and /dnc cause I'm often going solo as a blu.

/THF would only be for TH2 but you can get TH2 without /thf sub if you set traits and get the augmented belt from abyssea or Chaac Belt.. the forced crits, I don't think I could see them being useful currently. I honestly haven't tried it though so willing to be wrong there...

/NIN I am sure is situationally useful but I don't use it and don't miss it

NIN is definitely useful against older content, I just haven't bothered with it. You can get Dual Wield now by setting blu magic and Occultation can have up to 10 blink shadows (iirc), which, while not as good as nin shadows, helps a lot. I also find stuff like ice spikes, enspells, and aquaveil make it worthwhile to sub RDM, while subbing dancer makes you pretty much invincible against anything you can hit and deal damage to you that doesn't cast debilitating enfeebles/death/charm etc.

Adoulin stuff tends to spam stuff that wipes shadows so it is not super useful in a lot of newer content. Again, NIN is situationally useful but not necessary.
