Hey all,
Hoping someone can give me some advice on WKR's because I'm really confused right now. Everyone knows how they generally go... sometimes can take up to 2 hours, many deaths, etc. I went to Kamhau as my SMN, and contributed quite a bit. Did lots of damage, saved many people from adds with Ifrit, and helped cure the PLD. I'd say my total Bayld received was close to 20k. When it ended, my reward for 90+ minutes of effort? A riftborn boulder. I just don't understand. I barely have any of the rewards from that location (just the legs, bow, and belt), and even if I did, it could give me a damn cape or something because I only have a few of those. But does anyone have any advice on maximizing drops from these events. They are way too long and require too much effort to come away basically empty handed. I don't see what I did wrong...

BG wiki says if you participate enough to get rewards, you are guaranteed a crafting mat, and a unique drop but I didn't get those. It should be noted I showed up when he was at about 80% but that shouldn't really matter- I still fought him for 90 mins.

Thanks in advance.

You're really not guaranteed anything if you have drops from the zone. If you really contribute you can generally expect an ilvl 115 piece, a 106 piece, an accessory, and either an RME item or a crafting mat. If the game tries to give you something that you already have, you will receive nothing. As unlikely as it may seem, it's very possible for your situation to occur. I would recommend muling or dboxing the belt, earring, and cape when you do Kumhau so you can possibly get another one to sell.

Kumhau is definitely stingier on drops than the others, which is painful for how rarely he is fought because of his tendency to eat PLDs. I might start shouting to do him regularly on Asura now that I've found stride with RUN/NIN; tanked him 60%-0% last time.

Thanks guys. As said, I have very few drops from this NM so I found it very unlikely the loot pool would have assigned me the very items I had but this is SE so it's not incredibly surprising. IMO if you qualify for drops you should get SOMETHING no matter what, even if it's just a JSE cape. Then at least you could collect 3 and turn them in for something useful. At the very least I got the RoE KI for it, so I can keep collecting other KI's to do a trade with the sparks npc.

My last 3 Yumcax loot pools were (1 pebble). I only have ranged attack piece and Quanpur Necklace from him too. And only about 4 JSE capes.... it has been very frustrating. It is, however, par for the course for my FFXI luck.

I forgot that only the original 3 Naakuals have 2 sets of armor. Kumhau's loot pool consists of the staff, the bow, and the two pieces of armor as the r/ex drops. You already have half of the drops there making it easy for the game to try to give you one of the pieces you already have.

Had to login to post this link as I was also being turned of from doing WKR, lots of work and time for maybe getting nothing or getting something for a job you don't have leveled. As much as we complain about SE, they do do smart things every now and then. Make sure you have the RoE (Records of Eminence) quests turned on for completing each WKR...leave on full time so you dont forget. Currently, there are only 6 WKR you can participate in but completing each one with RoE quest active will give you a temp item, http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/Records_of_Eminence... it is the WKR sections towards the bottom. After collecting the 6 you can, from link above, one temp key item from each WKR, talk to Eternal Flame (Link below). I dont think it is every drop from the WKR but it will definitely get you going in the right direction.

Doing a little more reading myself, it does not look like you can choose JSE capes from Enternal Flame. Those you have to hope drop. Good luck!

Thanks, I did know about the paragon KIs that you get from the Nakuaals, and have traded them in twice for items. I've actually had a lot of luck from the last few WKR's I've been in lately. I've obtained 5-6 capes, and some nice items, so I've been rewarded for patience. Those reives have actually gone quickly too. I joined an alliance, and we did like 4-5 in a row one day, and most went very smooth (1 hour Yumcax is possible lol). Throwing summoners at the problem is always a good solution :P

Good to hear. I think drop rates have something to do with your goal in mind. Last few I have been to I go just wanting the win for the RoE KI, not for any drops. I have also gone into a couple with the NM already down to like 50%, again just for the RoE KI. Of those two types of situations, of going for just win and not caring about drops, I have gotten better drops :). Got the i115 Hand-to-Hand from, the i115 sword (one with -4% PDT), mnk pld thf JSE cape, and some i115 boots (I forget name, ones with wings i think on the side melee DDs). I got all the items with the attitude of going into the WKR for just the win :). That is 3 less things I have to get from Enternal Flame and able to move onto other stuff sooner.

Glad to hear it has worked out for you.
