Location Descriptors on Home Points?

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.

I was just thinking about that yesterday when I warped to the wrong homepoint in Windurst Woods, yet again. Wanted AH, got the one above the Fountain and I was going "GAHH!"

Seeing the Bid History while placing your own bids? About time. That's one of those "why didn't they think of that sooner?"

/hidetrust is awesome, more for the combat log spam (some reason you can't filter others' trust actions without filtering your own) but I suppose it is also awesome for system resources too.

Just got Cait Sith from a very easy fight, gave the options for Nesanica items found in the dat mine, also there's an "For Lilisette ..." option implying there might be a special title like if you released Luzaf from repeating the Odin prime fight 13 times,

Get 30000 of what's basically job specific EXP on level 96+ monsters and you get 1 JP that can then be used on, presently, 2 options with a 10 point cap. For example, WARs can get +2 ATK on Berserk or RDMs getting 1% HP saved on Convert. Looking over what others have listed, however, most are pretty underwhelming. Standouts are BLUs getting 10 potential spell points (speculated up to 30 with future updates) and CORs being able to extend their rolls and refresh Wild Card when rolling 5/6.

Surely they'll expand this? That seems rather..... small. Especially for having to gain 30,000 points (without dedication!).

Do JP work on subjobs? As in, could I put points into Berserk and get the bonus on /war?

I would assume no, since merit points for job abilities that you can get while subbed don't affect them when those jobs are subbed (i.e. reduced recast on Berserk when /WAR, etc). Given that the job point system works on a near identical premise (though limited to how you can acquire the capacity points), then job points likely won't affect subjobs.

Seems like things aren't balanced very well... +2 ATK during Berserk for Warrior, or +Set Points for Blue Mage.

One is nowhere near as powerful as the other.

Greetings, everyone.

Thanks for the feedback thus far on the new job point system. I’d like to pass on some information in response to comments we have been seeing.

  • Circle-type abilities
We are currently preparing to add more job point categories moving forward, but we are planning to start with the abilities you learn at low levels and move up from there, which is why at the moment there are a lot of circle-type abilities that can be enhanced.

We understand there are a lot of requests for other categories and the development team is working hard to release the next group of categories.

  • Capacity point amount
We had wanted to introduce chain bonuses for this; however, the original concept of chain bonuses (earn a bonus by defeating monsters that are higher in level than yourself within a certain time frame) was not appropriate for an item level system where you can change your level at any time. As such we decided to hold off on this.

In the future we would like to add elements such as dedication and chain bonuses.

Also, in regards to the amount of capacity points you need to earn, we’d like to monitor the current situation for a bit, and depending on the necessity we may make adjustments in the future.

Finally, the following is additional information on dancer's Trance category.

  • Dancer’s Trance
Each job point boosts the amount of TP increased when Trance is used by 10.

Looking at the system from an internal perspective, TP is calculated with decimal points up to the tenths. However, showing this via the UI is quite difficult, and thus it is displayed with the whole number values you see every day. The system has been built this way so that in the future we can add equipment and abilities that affect TP on the tenths scale.

In the future, we'd like to look into a method to display this more easily via the UI, such as making the maximum TP 3000.

Agreed. Set points are a huge boon comparatively. That said, not going to complain that my fave job got something actually worth pursuing.

Well, you can't exactly tie set points to ilvl or gear, either. On a base level, SE could've just given the job a chunk at 99, but then you also wouldn't need the new ilvl gear (or their expansion) to get the benefit. It will be somewhat unreasonable to expect all BLUs to have this category maxed anytime soon, though, and I doubt it will much change their position in the class hierarchy... which WARs aren't doing too terribly in.

I'll admit I haven't been following BLU much since it's gotten new spells. I know some carry traits from one spell alone, but whether those spells are actually useful or if these added 10 points will yield a new super build is something I'll have to look into. If anything, the number of spells we can set at 99 might actually be an issue, too. The only other alternatives to this category I could've seen SE tapping into at an "entry level" concept would've been CA and BA, but those are already merits both directly (timers) and not (spell potency).

CP is currently waaaaaaaaay too hard to earn for what it does.

I was assuming that it was going to be equivalent to the EXP earned, and that was why they ended the double exp campaign with this update. In reality, it seems rather independent of the EXP you earn (seeing how EXP chains don't affect CP gain) and comes out more around a number roughly 10% of the EXP you earn. That's roughly 30 million EXP, not counting chain EXP, to be able to upgrade one thing, once. And Abyssea doesn't count either.

I'm sure this is just yet another example of SE being their usual "release new stuff with ridiculous costs/requirements, ease up on it later" selves, but as a friend of mine pointed out, what little remains of the FFXI playerbase is pretty much beyond the point where they will take on the challenge of a massive new grind and lap it up like a famished dog. As it is, they have rolled out a system that nearly nobody is going to make use of.

To add salt to the grind wound, apparently each level's cost goes up incrementally. So, level 2 will cost 2 JP and so on. Enjoy the grind...?

Ok, gotta admit, I misread the job points screen... I thought we needed TEN points for the first upgrade, but I was confusing that with the 0/10 showing how many times you've upgraded it.

So the 30 million EXP rough estimate was actually far over the mark... it's only 3 million instead, for that first point.

Still though, these aren't going to be anything that I make any actual effort to obtain. I still think there's no need for them to be that hard to earn considering what most of them do (not much)

If this is accurate, it's a little steep when compared to the amount of XP it took to reach level 99.

Taken from this chart

To level from 1-99 requires 2,051,349 XP. Or, roughtly 1,000,000~ish less xp than 1 of these points will require.

So assuming you try earning these points only on your main job that is already 99, and from what I undestand they are exponnential cost, so the second one will cost you twice as much (6,000,000 ish xp?), totally 9,000,000 for two points...

You could earn 2 points, OR, for the same xp intake, you could level 4.5 jobs 1-99.

::apparently thread info was inaccurate, edited to reflect xp tables as of February 14, 2011 update::

Admittedly I haven't been on much since the update, but my returns on JP vs. EXP have not been that bad. Farming in Dynamis, I was getting I think 72 JP per 185 exp. Notably however, mobs that gave under 185 or so exp gave no JP. So, maybe there are some other JP mechanics as work as well? I was 99 blu, 119 weapon, solo, dynamis Qufim.

Regardless, since we get JP as we get exp (I had been expecting a mode system, like merits were) and since at this point few of the options are terribly powerful, I'm going to view it as more of something that comes along free with other things that I am engaged in. Kind of like beastman/kindred seals.

SE said the mob has to be level 96 or higher, so that's the other mechanic at play. Don't know why you're getting so many points from low level fodder.

Greetings,

The development team is currently looking into making it so capacity points can be earned through certain Records of Eminence objectives as well as from the various types of reives.

Additionally, they are planning adjustments to the amount of capacity points earned and other methods in which you can obtain them.

We'll continue to forward all of your feedback on Job Points to the development team.
