Dancer's Torque Wiki ConfusionFollow

Well, my Warrior is 81 now!

....too bad my Dancer (and some other subjobs) are <40.

I was looking up anything I might have missed on FFXIclopedia, when I came across the Dancer's Torque.

It says that a Dancer's Torque comes from Trial of the Magians, Trial 4442.

Okay.

I click that, and it says that to complete Trial 4442, I need to trade a Dancer's Torque and a Torn Epistle to the Delivery Crate.

.....err, what?

Okay, you get the Dancer's Torque by completing Trial 4442, but yet it is required to finish Trial 4442? I assume it is because a non-augmented and the augmented items share the same name, but Wiki doesn't say where you get the original Dancer's Torque (the non-augmented version) oddly enough.

Also, is it just me, or is there a complete lack of decent places to do FoV/GoV at Lv39?

The only place that I could see that sounded reasonable was in Korroloka Tunnel on Crabs/Fish. I tried looking it up on the wiki, but it didn't say whether or not Box Step acts like Acid Bolts (dispelling Scissor Guard). If so, then this won't be too bad. If not... bleh.

If I recall, you obtain the unaugmented Torque when you talk to the Magian Moogle and start the particular Trial, and then to finish the Trial, you give him the Rare/Ex item and the unaugmented Torque to obtain the augmented version and the job specific emote.

Box Step doesn't dispel Scissor Guard as it is not a directly countering status effect. Acid Bolts inflict Defense Down, which is opposite the Defense Up effect from Scissor Guard. Box Step inflicts a Step effect on the mob that is the same effect as Defense Down, but it's a distinct effect. It's like how Blind and Accuracy Down are the same as far as what they do (They reduce your accuracy), but the effects are distinct and can stack. Likewise, Box Step and Defense Down can stack, but they're still unique effects.

Oh, derp. lol. Now I feel like an idiot. That's right, they give you the un-augmented stuff to start with.

And that kinda sucks about Box Step... fighting those fish and crabs with no Defense Down to counter their Defense Up moves might kinda suck. I can't get Ajido, so no Dispel (too low level anyways even if I could I think?)... hmm. I can try it I suppose. If nothing else I could just tough it out until 44 on Yuntunga Mandies or something, then I can go whack some bees/lizards in CN IIRC.

Well, your Box Step would be able to counter the Defense Down to a degree, but it wouldn't strictly Dispel it like Acid Bolts effect would. It'd have the Defense Up from from Guard, but the Box Step would still be lowering its Defense to negate it.

The crab/fish page is awful anyway; the mobs are too spread out. I think at level 39 (especially now with Trust), I'd do Sea Serpent Grotto page 1: leeches and bats. That should be just enough of a bridge to get you to Crawlers' Nest levels.

Welp, problem solved already, went down to Yhoator Jungle.

Jeebus.

Took me a bit to find all of my equipment, then I had to take the airship down to Kazham since I hadn't been there since the Home Point Warp thingie was put in the game, but once I got there I called out Trion, Ayame, and Nanaa Mihgo, figuring I don't need Kupipi since I'm a Dancer.

Mihgo did way better than I expected; I didn't think that SE would actually allow trusts to use high level weapon skills at low level; her Dancing Edges did ridiculous damage for the level.

Anyways, I used an Anniversary Ring I had from years ago, and I wound up going from barely 39 to barely 46 in about an hour and fifteen minutes.

So yeah, don't gotta worry about that no more. lol. Now I'm 46 and I should be able to slide to 50 in Crawlers' Nest easy.

There is a double xp event this week, so get all the levels you can muster until it goes away.

But even so, if it's not your first job, leveling to 99 from 30 takes a day or less in Abyssea, double xp or not.

If this is your first job, get it to 99 asap since abyssea isn't great for your first job since you constantly have to leave to do limit breaks.

Well, I don't have the Abyssea addons yet (though I plan on buying the Adoulin Collection here soon), and my Warrior is 81 almost 82 now, and I had to level DNC (and other subs) because they're falling behind.

That said, I've been hearing everywhere how awesome Abyssea is, but when I tried reading up on the place before, it confused me and I couldn't make any sense out of all the weird terms, restrictions, time limits, rules, etc.

I've been doing more than good enough for myself even before the Double XP week began; just last week I got some pretty nice results just taking my Warrior to Zeruhn Mines for some Bats/Crabs XP and it was fairly nice. I can easily deal with 1 level every 2-3 hours (at 80+ when you need 47k+), much better than I got the last time I played, lol.

Maybe someday I'll see what all the hubbub about Abyssea is, but maybe after I get used to playing the game again and get my bearings. All of these changes seem quite confusing, esp when I'm trying to remember all the things I once knew about the game already and/or trying to remember where I left off, where all of my equipment is (took me nearly 25min to find my DNC stuff as it is), get a new notebook written up for common crafting recipes, etc.

It is just too much at once.

But thanks for your suggestion, I'll definitely remember it!
