I really want to get stuck in to the new RoE tasks but I am finding the repop times of certain NMs a bit too long.
Wiki lists Serket repop time around 12 hrs which isn't realistic when it comes to catering for a group of people who want to casually do stuff.
Yes I know the repop for this NM and others added to the update yesterday used to be 24hr repop but wouldn't a 2-3hr repop be more reasonable? :(

I guess mobs like Serket aren't yet irrelevant enough to be allowed to pop more than twice a day. Maybe when we have rings that give 100 MP they'll finally consider him as worthless as we do.

You're not supposed to camp them, you're supposed to say "oh lol Serket is up, let's flag the quest and kill lolwowomg" That's why they're not repeatable, and don't give any rewards besides a tiny number of sparks. They really don't know us. No rewards won't stop us obsessively completing.

If people did a shout in jeuno with a mule that Serket was up and come and join the fun then it would be a lot easier.
As it happens, they don't and the NM is dead before you can get there anyway.
The long repop timer makes it hard for people to know the last ToD unless you knew someone else who was there and got it for you when you we'ren't online.

A good system might be a semi-transparent version of the mob (or shadowed/blue ghostly/etc) that only people on the quest could see acting as a trigger to spawn a normal one, perhaps triggered by some kind of a buff on players who accept the quest. In this way, the trigger NM would never have to truly die, since it would only act as a spawn trigger for the real NM and become 'invisible' upon spawning the actual NM. I feel like this would still retain the feeling of "hunting for an NM" without necessarily adding the intentional Dev-Team induced grief to players, or forcing players to just trade X-item to a ??? on the ground, which is lame as all hell.

I think they all should be reduced to max 2 hour spawn windows

That said, this isn't at all necessary so I am not sure why anyone would worry about it. If the only reward is a couple of sparks and a warm fuzzy feeling, why the rush?

Expecting there to be something good in a later quest that requires having completed a bunch of different RoE objectives?

Well there isn't really a rush but the idea is a set amount of objectives you can do when you feel there is nothing to do was the point of RoE.
At least that was my take on the system when it was first introduced.

NMs spawn in their times and not yours so it kind of messes with the original idea if they have long repop times.

Essentially the point of Records of Eminence wasn't so much going out of your way to do certain events or fight certain things, so much as, "Oh, you're going to be going here and killing these things, so why not get an extra reward out of it". Like the Wildskeeper ones for example. You're likely not going to queue up the one for beating Hurkan unless you expect to be killing it before too long anyway, and most of the others are like that as well. Though they probably figured players would, they didn't necessarily intend for people to go out and farm or burn through RoE trials.

Do you have to select the objective? I'm pretty sure I'd forget to put it up when needed and you can only have so many objectives up at the same time.

A lot of the objectives (outside of the ones that you randomly get automatically) you have to select on your own. I think the whole "set it and forget it" was their actual mindset with doing them, so that you could set a bunch of random, general ones and go about your business, then get extra rewards.

Um, I think Serket IS a 2-3 hour repop now, as are Simurgh, Roc, and surely others. So... no need to complain?

November 2013 update reduced spawn times for a lot of Conquest area NMs.Currently Wiki comment says "Its new Respawn Time is less than 12 hours (Earth time). The exact time is unknown." Which is true, but doesn't really narrow it down too much. Was probably just some person who killed it then was back 12 hours later and saw it already up again.

Now, there ARE still some that seem unchanged from old long timers. Weeping Willow (placeholder for Lumber Jack) is one example, I was AFK with no competition in its spawn area for 4+ hours earlier this week and no pop.

But anyway, the point isn't for everyone to complete the list of all NMs. Like others have said, it's intended to just be a little sparks/exp bonus if you happen to see the NM up as you're already going about your normal business.

That works for NMs that pop on their own but there are NMs like Swamfisk that are a lotto pop and can pop anywhere in a wide area.
So if someone happens to see the NM up that you worked hard to pop then it kind of sucks to be you.
Unless they changed it to a Despot type of claim on spawn by the person who killed the placeholder, people can still get screwed from these.
