HELP! Shantotto EgoFollow
I just got Ajido's ego but Shantotto won't give me hers. I've done all 4 quests she starts so what am I missing?
have you done your warp II scroll quest also?
I know some of her quests need you to either zone to get the next one or wait till next day or something.

People are reporting having to have done the warp 2 scroll quest, in addition to completeing the windy storyline and ToAU missions that involve her.
I only did Windy 6 i think for the canal entrance in walls, i went and got trion/volker then back to Shanto and got it
I got the following quests completed on my mule for windy and I was able to get Shantotto:
(I also have hero fame in windy too.)
1) Acting in good faith
2) Curses, foiled again!
3) Curses, foiled.... again?"
4)Mandragora mad
5)Mihgo's Amigo
6)Flower Child
7)Trust: Windhurst
Not sure if having a rank 10 in any nation counts too but my mule is rank 10 Bastok which kind of makes me think not.
(Not completed any other national missions for Sandy or Windy at all.)
BTW I have been playing around with Shantotto and her playstyle is classic BLM!
Nuke things, get hate and take damage, lol.
She's pretty good but as an mp user ends up drier as a desert after a few fights if you are trying to level up.

On my newest character which is barely one month old, I have minimal fame (rank 4, required for the Warp II quest), bastok rank 6, windy/san'd rank 1.
I was able to get Shantotto after getting the Warp II scroll from her (So Curses! Foiled... again, Curses! Foiled... A Golem?, etc.) Like mentionned above, some of those quests have zone in/out or next vanadiel day requirements.
You apparently also need every other Trust magic learned before she'll agree to it (Which means, Warp2 scroll, Shadow lord defeated, and a set of bead necklace handed to Nanaa Mihgo as the entire prerequirements for her)
That said, Ajido is actually better than her, because he melees (she doesn't). She gets point for doing /laugh emote instead of the normal casting one.
Random leaving comments: Having Kupipi, Ajido and Shantotto makes some pretty ridiculously easy solo lowbie XPing.

That actually makes a lot of sense because when you go to the very start of the game, you have to urn trust for NPC's to give you more rewarding tasks to do via levelling fame.
It just turns out that Shantotto is a little more picky then other NPC's when it comes to choosing what adventurers to trust.
In the last round it was Mihgo who seemed a little picky but the requirements don't seem as harsh as Shantotto's.
Also! Login Campaign might be a staple as we are having another one for the new year?
I love how they are adding bonus trust spells in there with Lion and maybe another chance to get Zeid for those that didn't obtain him this time? hmmm
btw SE bravo on the Trust idea!
I wish this came about years ago but I guess the management at the time would have probably never approved it.

They would have if they weren't so busy trying to push XIV down our throats lol, now the irony is XI is coming together much more smoothly than XIV is or ever will.

I'm not sure if SE intended to push one game out comission or not but it would make sense if they both continued to pay their way.
I was thinking of quitting FFXI before Xmas until they released the Trust and RoE system but it seems this stuff as recaptured my need to keep subbing my account.

Aside form doing as many quest or missions related to Shantoto. You'll need to aquire the other three trust npc's (Trion, Volkner, Ajido) before you can get the cutscene with Shantoto. As a sugestion it would be better to get Ajido right before Shantoto, thus saving a trip.
Edit: I never got past the poison kit in Shantoto's mini expansion. Although there would be a reference to that expansion if it was completed. I also had all the other previous quests and missions done with her involvment (no windy missions or wand quests.). When I tried to get her first and second, it was only text and no cut scene. I don't remember where it origionally was but some posted you needed the other three first. I can kinda confirm that Shantoto's main pre-requirement is to get the other three npc's added to trust on Dec 25 first. Everything else only determines the sucess of gaining her trust npc. The more the better, but there might be one quest that acts like the minimum for sucess. As when I got Ajido, the only thing mentioned was a carbunkle ruby for summoner. I did no other quests/missions involving him and he seemed suprised that it actually worked.
On a functional note Shantoto ocasionally laughs while casting magic, and sometimes fast casts a second spell imediately after. Compared to to Ajido she'll burn out her Mp pool in little to no time. Also don't expect any melee from either blm all they can do is stand around and cast magic and become useless once they run out of mp. If SE had given them a staff then they could recharge mp every once in a while. Especially since Shantoto was the starter for that staff weapon skill.. That little Whm Taru ( a secretary) is more battle ready than those two for some reason.
