Break out the blankets and get ready to hunker down, for the next version update is scheduled for Thursday, December 26!

Trion, Volker, Ajido-Marujido, and Shantotto are all in accord--this time of the year is for recalling fond memories and rekindling old friendships! Stroll down memory lane with these storied personages and never be alone again with their alter egos at your side!

I am starting to wonder if the favourite character vote we had a few months ago helped devs work out what NPC's to make for trust?
Anyway I haven't had much change to play around with the system yet but it seems like a lot of fun and glad they are adding more.

PS where is NAJA? :D

Its already confirmed they're trying to add the top 10 npcs from the list:

The list of upcoming trust NPC's seems great but I'd love to run around with some of the more unique npcs in the game as well as possible event rewards etc.

You'll be happy to know that each expansion’s heroine (including Arciela) will be available for Trust!

Essentially, we’d like to add all the top ranking NPCs from the NPC popularity contest. (This should cover a few of the NPCs you guys suggested, right? )

We hope you're all excited for this upcoming content

Now I don't know how they'll make Joachim work but I'll take it.

Maybe you could call him from inside Abyssea and he could give you additional stones, so you don't have to farm blue chests for time. He would also transport you back in time to 2011, when this would have been useful.

hmm I forgot what the placement was for NPC's in the "top 10" so I'll post a link below:

I think Joachim might end up being a Bard. At least from the .dat mining he supposedly has a harp as part of his .dat file. Source

He uses the strings of the harp to shoot traverser stones.

Neat to see how many female characters were chosen. (This game has a lot of female protaganists!)

You hope there's more? You literally just got a content patch about a week and a half ago with ANOTHER content patch coming in a couple of days, literally two content patches within two weeks (give or take a couple of days). Do you not realize how insanely fast that is for any type of content to be released? They're literally matching the much-hyped Guild Wars 2 "a patch every two weeks" system and by far surpassing every other MMO in the market in terms of release frequency.

And this if for an MMO with an extremely dwindling population. Content doesn't just appear out of nowhere and it takes time to create. The fact that you feel entitled to more astounds me.

Depends, the details are kind of lacking in the second content update. I mean the second update could be a couple more Trust NPC's, and All zones being added to RoE Challenges. I mean I guess its a content upgrade...but its kinda like putting 50 bucks into a 30M crowd source fund, and blowing your load over another highly rendered 3D image that you simply get to look at. (ok maybe its not quite like that, but I wanted to get a Star Citizen joke in there somewhere.)

I wouldn't expect more than the new Trust NPCs and some potential bug fixes like with the Eminent Pole, myself. At best, maybe a few HM story BCs will be released, but it's also unlike SE to not hype actual major happenings, even if said happenings do wind up kinda lame. Might be wiser to look at it as stuff they couldn't fit into the last update in time due to QA, but wanted to get it in now instead of late-Jan or Feb.

But all this "content" added was just rehashing of old content. AA battles? Boost the stats and abilities of mobs from pre-existing battlefields and add new drops to the loot table. Records of Eminance? Add a menu that tracks stuff that already happens and give rewards for it. Trust? Re-hash of the "adventuring fellow" system. It might be "new content", but it's not anything made-from-scratch, and it didn't take a lot of work or creativity to create. Don't get me wrong, it still gives us something to do other than killing Tojil for the 758th time, and I'm thsnkful for that, but let's not pretend that they're dropping all kinds of unprecidented "new" stuff on us.

Records of Eminence is huge. It's one of the most significant additions in quite some time.

What's wrong with AA fights? If instead of an Ark Angel skin, you fought a mob named Harold who was 2 jobs, could use 4 special abilities, and dropped many nice things, would that satisfy you? Instead, SE chose some of the best-looking mobs in the game and used those. What's not to like?

The quality of life additions to the game in the last couple of updates have been very significant. Maybe too little, too late for some, but still amazing. I'm not sure what kind of expectations you have for this game, but to get these updates on a monthly basis is a good thing, not a bad thing.

On topic, looking at this Christmas day update, I have to wonder if the Trust improvements are the only thing being included. My reasoning is that having an update with such meager additions hardly seems to warrant an update at all.

While RoE is huge it really offers nothing for people at the end game already which is the majority of people. RoE is awesome for someone like me who missed a long period of time, but for anyone who has played through the progressions in the last year isn't going to be interested in this stuff for the most part. It is not a significant change to further the game...it just closes the gaps up from past content. Still huge but huge to the minority of the population. Even the Casual crowd already had rieves and stuff that would get them to a similar place gear wise... so ultimately RoE didn't add anything new to the game...just made the game more accessible. (which is good, but hardly "content").

Thankfully however SE is not displaying any signs of going WoTG on it....yet,

What was wrong with WoTG besides not focusing on people who only cared about end-game?

To be fair they didn't really focus on anyone. I thought the whole 3 years of having us repeat CoP/ToAU era **** was pretty lame though.

I don't think ROE is noob only content, I have a bunch of gear etc from wildskeepers and a bit from delve and lots from bayld and it is still nice.

Lots of people have jobs they were interested in trying but levelling was getting real painful again (outside of leeching abyssea) and the event drops REM upgrade items too so you can actually make endgame progress by levelling a new job - score!

The last update was ace. People can complain about it as much as they want but they took real steps to fix a major problem with the game.

I haven't been playing the last week or so because holidays have me busy- but I am super excited they chose to improve the levelling experience - been wanting to take up thief for awhile - but the idea was soul destroying - I have the TH hands and feet and the HQ wildskeeper dagger all ready to go (and can buy second dagger with points!) but levelling was holding me back.

Anyway - it's silly to act like in a game with so many jobs almost no one wants to level anymore. It has just been so tedious slow and painful that people didn't want to do it

With the three npcs it is not just faster - it feels less lonely and tedious. I look forward to being able to duo and have some npcs out - that would make me excited, I always loved duoing - but it was never particularly viable outside a few job combos

You know you can only use Trust NPCs solo, right? It's pretty obviously due to the way they take up party slots. The old NPCs took up a party slot too, but you could still be in a party with other players.

I believe he's referring to the dev comment made here (bottom of post) stating that they would like to make it possible to summon them in parties in the future. When they get around to that, though, is anyone's guess.

yeah I was referring to that comment :)

I am really looking forward to them fixing that cause now there is a perverse disincentive to playing with others because you get weaker... 2 players are not as good as 1 player and 3 npcs.

Power-wise it would be close but for stuff like heals (especially since you can dismiss the npc and call it back with full MP) not so much.
