Prioritizing Abyssea ConfluxFollow

So, I just rejoined FFXI to take advantage of the Abyssea event, but haven't done anything for Abyssea yet. I've read up on many guides, so I think I have an idea of what I should do, but I want to be prepared if I get invited to a party/alliance.

I have a 75 RDM, 67 SAM, 63 BLU and 58 DNC (my notable jobs), if that helps at all. I'll likely start with my RDM to get some merit points built up, Kindred Crests gathered and work on the limit breaks.

With that being said, which confluxes should I prioritize to get so I can quickly get to the most popular Abyssea leveling spots? I want to get them setup before I get any invites so I'm not taking forever to reach the party.

Also, any Abyssea tips (navigating/xp/fighting/etc.) that anyone has will be appreciated as well. :)

La Theine and Altepa #8

It's quite unlikely you will use any others for PUG xp purposes unless you get into a cleave party (do those still exist?)

By the way, if you're used to the old style mechanic of flagging up and waiting for an invite in Jeuno/Whitegate, it is better these days to go to the worm camp and flag up there. The alliance will invite you eventually.

Thanks Fynlar! FYI, loved your RDM guides. Used to reference them quite a bit in the early days. :)

As Fynlar said, La'Theine and Altepa #8; you're probably want to get La'Theine first. These exp alliances are pretty laid back; people just running around the spawn area killing as fast as they can. No MBs or much coordination really. In other words, as rdm, if you can drop some heals and haste, and possibly even nuke or melee on occasion, everything will be perfectly fine. Altepa adds a little more complexity running back and forth to re-start dominion ops (the NPC who gives those is right next to the camp, hence its popularity). If no one is laying dead on the ground, you're doing fine.

Welcome back and have fun!

Once you have levelled up and got past all the level cap quests, I would imagine that you would have a fair amount of cruor to spend on confluxes.

I think one of the trickiest places to get around could be between Attowha Chasm and Ugly range.
Finding some of the flux in these areas are challenging at best, (specifically Ugly range since the last few flux are located within the mountain which you need to slide down to get access to) however not everyone of them are needed but are very handy to get around to specific points for NM fights.

Conflux 4 and 5 are very useful in Ugly range since people still occasionally go there to fight Buffalo there for exp and Dom Ops.
(Although more seasoned players have capped exp on all jobs since levelling is easy now and most of the times you will find most camps are empty.)

Get all flux inside Attowha Chasm but prioritize maybe 1# 4# 8# 7# and 00.
Those will get you around most NM camps for farming armor.

P.S:

Abyssea is awesome now.

99% of timed spawned NMs are up and wandering around unclaimed so you can take your pick of what you want to do and not be bothered with camping against anyone else.
So the only time sink you got to deal with is bad drops!

Thanks everyone! Finally got some time to wander around today. Got La Theine 8 and may hang out there LFG to get into a worm alliance. I'll go /Whm to help with heals and just run aroud curing, hasting and Dia III.

One big thing I noticed was how empty te AH was. Gotta be hard at lower levels finding any gear.

Most people don't tend to care as much about low level gear as they used to since you can out grow an entire set in one exp party.
So you can imagine seeing a lot of people in party with very little to no gear at all.
Those that do may even have higher gear then the currant level sync person in their party so any stat benefits are scaled down and not noticable.
Since you tend to fight in an alliance anyway, the mobs you fight will be EP and die pretty fast so as long as your weapon is good then your doing fine.
(If your really stuck for gear, I'd recommend you checking out what NPC's have on offer and if you got enough conquest points, you might want to try there too.)

Once in abyssea though, you would want to buy some gear with cruor if you have enough.
Some of it can be sold on AH for as little as 2k a piece but not always guarunteed a full gear set to be up at the same time.
This gear is pretty cheap if you buy with cruor so if you can't find what you want on AH, ask a kind soul who maybe in party if they would buy what you need and you pay them in gil for it.
