hi everyone !
ok I really am getting frustrated here. I used to play FFXI a few years ago and missed it so I decided to come back. I can't get my old characters back and am fine with starting fresh.
so I install ffxi on my new xbox and blah blah blah...
the problem is that I don't have the playonline registration code, so I can't even get a playonline ID, let alone play the game.
my ex bf told me that I could buy the code somewhere online, he doesn't know where.
I really want to play the game today so can anyone help me??
the only codes I found so far are for the expansions. I need just the basic code to get a playonline ID, and for the basic FFXI gameplay. What I had on my old xbox was the vanadiel collection 2008; that would be fine.
please for the love of god help me! I have been trying to play this game for over a week now! its driving me crazy! I was just going to say forget it, Ill just buy a whole new game. I called the best buys and gamestops within a 10 mile radius and none of them have ffxi. I don't want to order it online because like I said I really want to play today or asap. if I order online it could take like a week to get here

You can gets codes from lots of places. Can get codes for up to abby expansions from steam, and get the new expansion on amazon or something. Or you could just get the whole collection or amazon. They're not releasing physical copies of the game in the US anymore.

it should arrive in a few days. if anyone has any tips on what server I should join, preferably one where the majority speak English or has a lot of helpful people, let me know :)

BDWALL , Im in the same boat, . deployed in afghanistan/Iraq moved . then my family had to move while I was gone . I did have my id written on the side of a piece of furniture. but boyond that i am pretty lost. no registration codes. , no i can find . but i am still looking. Honesly fighting there is probably easier than trying to get back my old character and my 5 mules. LOL!
The codes for FFXI aren't tied to the console/pc, it's tied to your SE account. Therefore, if you already have the Xbox discs, you can buy any form of the game and register those codes on the website and you'll be good to go. In this case, the PC version is normally the easiest and cheapest too find, and normally will get you the codes immediately.
This also means that accounts are 100% interchangeable between XBox and PC. So if your XBox dies or you decide to get rid of it, you can just download a copy of the PC client (easy to get for free) and use your Xbox account on the PC. And vice versa when your Xbox is fixed.

How do I get the PC client? My laptop crashed and i dont have a disc for the game. I just downloaded it. Dont tell me I have to get a whole new game please!
There is no free downloadable game client. Depending on how you purchased the game you may have options available to you.
Since they haven't made any physical copied of the game since a few expansions ago, chances are you purchased a digital copy of the game somewhere. You should return to the site where you purchased the game and download it again.
If you don't already own a digital copy, I'd highly recommend getting one from Amazon or Steam. The full collection with all expansions (ultimate Seekers Edition i believe it's called) costs $30 on both locations.
If you're savvy enough to use a torrent, I've often heard there's a stickied torrent of the client somewhere on the BG forums, so you can try that. If you download a torrent from anywhere else, I'd make extra sure to scan the contents thoroughly, you wouldn't want to compromise your PC security by mistake.
It's also strongly advised not to post in necro threads that have been sub-defaulted.

Well, there's the trial client, but that won't help with the expansions. I have located a copy of the latest Ultimate Edition from a site that shall not be named here, and that may be helpful. Otherwise, no, you need to find the installers for the expansions.
