Any static party interest? (returning player)Follow

I'm sure people get sick of these sorta topics so I apologize, I've been outta the game since about 2006 (i've just reset my login details on this forum and my last post was 2004!) and see my old server, Fairy, is now dead. =(

Anyway, the bottom line is I'd love to come back to FFXI but I don't want it to be that lonely experience I'm sure everyone has felt at some point during their time on the game, expecially starting off from level 1. The daunting prospect of the exp grind will be a lot more of a pleasurable experience with some like minded people looking to start-a-fresh or people looking to just start a new class/character. I can remember standing in places like the Dunes with my "Looking For Party" icon above my head for sometimes HOURS and it makes for a very tedius experience.

I doubt I will get any response but I'm 28, from the UK and very easy going, I have a ton of experience in FFXI but I'm not sure how relevent that is to how the game is today as it was a good few years ago). I plan on being a tarutaru blm - but I am willing to play any role to accomodate a static party. I don't care where you are from or what timezone you are in (I often play late nights/early mornings) as long as you can type in English to a reasonable level. I'm almost expecting to play at odd hours for my timezone 'cos I don't think there's even many UK players still on the game?

I'd plan to do maybe 2-4 leveling sessions a week but that can be discussed, there's plenty else to do in the game while not leveling.

So, please speak up if this sparks your interest or if you have any questions (post here or PM me) and we can get the ball rolling. I'm still to actually register an account so there's no rush (I'm also assuming you need to get to level 10-12 for partys to even be viable) so there's plenty of time to jump in.

These days it's easier to just solo to 10-16 then head over to Gusgen Mines and join an Alliance doing Ground Tome pages (Skeletons) then when you hit 35 or so head to Crawler's Nest and you can probably get to 50 or 60 doing pages with groups there. Head over to B. Oubliette in San d'Oria to get to 75-80 and then go to Abyssea-La Theine to reach 99. At least that's how I did it back it in the day when I was starting over.

But if you're on Cerberus, I can lend a hand.

Yeah there is not as much waiting for parties anymore - worst case scenario you might need to do a quick shout to get a couple more people together and start one...

But it is still a good idea to try to find a friend or an LS before you get going.

Oh, so leveling has changed up huh? I did't realise that. I was kinda looking forward to the standard Dunes>Qufim>etcetc trip down memory lane with a typical party.

Thanks for the replies, I'll do some reading up on how it is now. The offer for returning players or people looking to level a new class etc still stands.

Hi there,

If you are still interested in levelling up the "classic" way, instead of Gusgen and CN alliances, I'd like to mention our linkshell that is focused on old school content. We have a few static PT's going on already, but I'm sure there are still others who would be interested in making a new static PT, myself included.

But, as i said, we are an old school LS and therefor we ask our members not to go to Gusgen or CN or abyssea pre-75. We are on Lakshmi. It's not a very big LS, as not many people are into the old school stuff anymore. But we have a core group of players who are online alot. If you are into this, check out our website:
