Downloading Add-on Scenarios?Follow

#1 Jul 19 2013 at 6:53 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so I purchased the latest collection of Final Fantasy XI for my Xbox 360 and everything installed, updated, and works just fine there. However, there are times where I'd like to be able to play on my computer. So, naturally, I downloaded the client offered on the free trial page. I went through the entire monotonous setup again and, when I finally finished patching, launched the game. The issue is that it is completely missing all of the add-on scenarios despite the fact that I do have the rights to all of them.

I am fully aware that there is a 'guide' that is linked in the FAQ thread regarding moving from console to computer. That guide, however, doesn't really cover this particular issue. There are no discs for the scenarios as far as I know and everywhere I've looked said they are/would be download only. I've activated the one and only CD Key from the ultimate collection, so how do I get the scenarios? I can't find answers anywhere and any help would be appreciated.

The 3 Add-On scenarios and the 3 Abyssea expansions are downloaded and do not require installation discs.

Any other game discs you might be missing are not available for download on any official site, but I've heard there's a torrent stickied on the BG forums. Please make sure to scan anything you end up downloading from a non-SE site.

Yes, I understand that. As I've said, I downloaded the official client from the trial page and the add-on/battle scenarios did not install. I can launch the game, it's fully updated, but they didn't install and the message saying that 'expansions have not been installed' comes up every time I launch the game. The actual expansions, from wings to seekers, are installed and do show as activated on the title screen.

So, you're saying the same thing that I've seen everywhere else which is simply that the scenarios download without me having to do anything. That's the problem though, they didn't. So I have no idea what to do.

An install disk specifically for the add ons does not exist.

If I'm understanding correctly, and you are playing with the client offered on the free trial page, you are not playing with the official game client. You probably don't have any expansion data besides the vanila ffxi client. You will need to install the game from actual disks, or find an alternative client download in order to play.

In my very first post I said there was no disc; nowhere did I ask for one. The trial page is an official page with the official client and all of the expansions are installed and working properly. None of the add-ons are installed at all. That is my problem and the only thing I've asked is if anyone knew how to resolve this issue. If you don't know, that's unfortunate as I haven't found this particular issue anywhere else. I could contact square support but they will just tell me to buy the game again.

Yes, definitely. Every piece of extra content works without issue on my Xbox 360; and they all show up in my square account management page as well. I took a screen just so you can see. http://i.imgur.com/Dw3m2Hw.jpg

The issue greatly confuses me and, like I've said, I can't find anyone else with this particular problem. So I'm really at a loss.

Trying to make sure I understand.

Is this the trial client you installed? If not, which one? Did you install any other files besides this one?

Yes, that's where I went. I continually made sure that my square account had the CD Key applied, that PlayOnline had the correct ID and other information, etc. It was a tedious set up process, without question. The only thing I can think of is that, when setting up PlayOnline for the first time, I mistakenly chose to have a 'member' password because I didn't think it would be an issue. Of course, the 'member password' option doesn't work and it wouldn't let me log-in so I had to delete PlayOnline and start over (I wouldn't imagine this would affect the game, but who knows?).

The first thing I did in response to the missing add-ons was launch PlayOnline and do a file check on all three options (PlayOnline, Final Fantasy, and Tetra). When the check of Final Fantasy XI finished it came up with a couple thousand 'errors' that it said it would repair; so I clicked ok and it seemed to do this. However, I didn't notice any actual difference. The problem was (still is) unchanged.

My only thought at this point is to uninstall and delete everything, not just PlayOnline, and start completely over. This would mean I get to experience the joy of patching all over again, but I can't think of anything else.

If you only installed the file downloaded from the trial website only data for the original FFXI with no expansions was installed on your PC.

This has nothing to do with which expansions you have registered to your account or installed on your xbox.

If you have not specifically installed one of the anniversary clients or each of the expansion's disks this data will not be downloaded automatically when the client updates.

Because SE does not provide the full game for public download, you will need to either purchase disks to install the expansions (or the latest collection), borrow said disks from others, or download a torrent of the disks and install from that.

The only exception is the 3 add on scenarios and Abyssea. Rize of the Zilart, Chains of Promatia, Wings of the Goddess, Seekers of Adoulin will all need to be installed separately from the trial download.

Except for the fact that all of the expansions show as active on the title screen. Only the add-ons are grayed out. I have no idea why. I would take a screen shot to show you, but I've already un-installed everything and am currently in the process of re-installing.

Also, anniversary client? I've not heard of this anywhere, please elaborate.

Find your FFXI install directory, rt click on it and open the properties. If the file size is not 12 GB then you are missing the expansions.

I meant "collection" instead of "anniversary" they put out a new up-to-date collection usually after major expansions. Here's the amazon link to the latest:

It still offered to update Tetramaster? Weird.
