To be fair, the PS2 (well, mine anyway) does still have its fair share of issues:
- Severe framerate/lockup issues in places with many character/mob models (as in, the game starts running about as slowly as it possibly can short of completely freezing up, like 1 frame every 5-10 seconds or so). The most common offending zone is Port Jeuno, although the same thing can happen in situations such as Dynamis and Voidwatch fights.
- The NPC lockup issue (where you talk to a NPC, but its dialogue either takes an incredibly long period of time to display on the screen or doesn't display at all, and you're stuck in place and may be forced to reboot the system). This has been an on-and-off recurring issue; right now it seems to be not occurring.
- Cutscenes that "load" different areas, which is a practice that mainly took off with WotG missions/quests, immediately cause the screen to go black when the transition occurs, and crashes the game. This was especially problematic if the cutscene in question occurred automatically upon entering a certain area (which is also something several WotG quest cutscenes did...) because you were unable to do anything about it; as soon as you logged back into the game the cutscene would just load again, the crash would occur again, and you'd be stuck. I don't know if this still occurs following their "blackout countermeasures", seeing as how my alts have gotten their missions done by now XD
There's likely others, but these are the big three.
