I love how playonline.com still states that the servers are 'up'...

So does anyone know what battlefields were dropping what items? It's not like we can take advantage of it now anyway.

Right now, the explanation I've heard that seems to make the most sense is that the new Naakuals are dropping things that were intended to be dropped by the Delve MBs (which aren't implemented yet)

They do have sort of a problem, it seems, ever since Adoulin release, with releasing things before they actually should.

But then, it could be asked "why didn't they just take down Marjami Ravine + Yorcia Weald then, instead of the whole servers?" which is a valid sort of question.

One person's speculation is that they have no way to mass delete the unintended items, so they have to hunt through the logs to find them all. I don't know that there is any basis to that claim, but it wouldn't surprise me. I desperately hope it's not the case.

This.

My money is on the servers coming up just before JP primetime, but I could be biased.

It's possible that they're having to go back and nuke/modify the Delve MB drops (assuming that's actually what they are) out of players' inventories, since they aren't supposed to exist yet if that's the case.

Has anyone confirmed what actually dropped to cause the maint?

I sure hope we don't get penalized on login campaign if we can't log in today because is down for maintenance.

This is coming into the realm of possibility, I left for work this morning before the daily reset at 8 AM (Pacific), and by the time I got home, maintenance had already started. If this maintenance goes on a few hours more, I won't be awake for the end of it...

I'll be a bit annoyed if I have to wake up at 7 AM on a Saturday just to log in for this event... >_>

I'm gonna guess the new weapons were supposed to be MB drops, not WKR drops.

My hypothesis is probably the new Wildskeeper reives were probably dropping things from future delve/skirmish expansions, rune/geo af gear on the limmit breaks, or other things that may currently be only available on the test servers were being randomly dropped sporadically in various battle fields. Like real randomly across in reive battles, delve, skirmish, limit breaks, bc, zenni, nyzule, salvage... The question I have is, what items were they and howmany people actually noticed? Then again, some folks may need to go through the recent data files with a comb to have an idea as to what it could be.

[NA] All Worlds Emergency Maintenance (Jul. 12): Follow-up

We would like to take a moment to explain the current situation with the ongoing emergency maintenance.

Based off of our investigation, there was issue in "Horlais Peak" battlefields. In addition to the unimplemented items (* displayed as "・") , we confirmed that there was a case where some items that are normally not dropped were being dropped. We have also confirmed that battlefields and areas other than "Horlais Peak" were not having this issue.

Because of this, we will be ending the maintenance at around 21:00 for all the areas except for "Horlais Peak". We will be continuing the maintenance for "Horlais Peak" until we are finished preparing to resolve the issue. We will notify everyone once we have a detailed time of completion.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

[Date & Time]
From Jul. 12, 2013 12:30 to 21:00 (PDT)

* Only the completion time for "Horlais Peak" is undecided, and will continue to undergo maintenance.

Horlais Peak, really?

They had to take the whole game down for hours with virtually no warning because of "."s being dropped in some irrelevant zone? Man, that would have been a disaster. Imagine if it hit the press...
#47 Jul 13 2013 at 12:11 AM Rating: Excellent
It probably has to do with what was said following where they mentioned that Horlais Peak was the issue. They likely went and checked through every single battlefield for every single zone (BCNMs, KSNM, ENMs, KCNMs, Delve, Skirmish, etc) to make sure that they had pinpointed it being the only issue. As much as I hated them needing to take the game down for so long, I'd rather them get that out of the way now rather than it pop up routinely.

As for the whole Test Server thing, this might be a result of the emergency maintenance a couple days ago, well after this content was released.

Yep you definitely are, since you know you wouldn't say sh*t or care if it came up in your primetime.

I know right? Because that's the only thing they did while the servers were off. Makes total sense, it's not like they could have done something else. Sheesh, some people.

If you know of whatever else they did, please speak up. Otherwise, nobody is really interested in your SE apologist act.

A lot of people were screwed out of Wildskeeper Reives and such and are rightfully pissed.

Looking over the maintenance history, I'll give you my best guess.

It's the "Fish Anywhere" hack in a new form. Ages and ages ago, there was a bug where you could fish anywhere, and pull up random items because you were basically skimming the database on the servers for items they have on there. Sounds like when they added the new stuff, they have create a situation where some events are accidentally pulling from these tables of either default/blank items (like the infamous "." placeholder), or even grabbing stuff not implemented like Gold Beds mentioned in that posting. Likely they were having to create a new table for the new loot but somehow some of the indexing values got snarled with older tables. But they didn't know what table was snarled with which because of their insistence on the "." placeholder.

SE apologist? Far from it, I just know from experience there's more to it than just taking off the servers to do ONE thing, there's a lot more processes involved and stuff they won't always document (because most doesn't even concern the consumer as we're not the ones handling the server software and diagnostics.)

But you're right, I should follow the bandwagon and tell SE to stop making content for the game, everything they're doing sucks, being pissed about my Relic and Mythics being outshoned and continue to throw them my money every month despite this.

Smiley: oyvey

Seriously though, that is a much larger issue considering it affected drop rates of items in spots it shouldn't have been, it wasn't just a placeholder popping up much like when people were "obtaining" 100 Bynes in Castle Oztroja.
