Did they ever fix the enmity issue yet? Thinking about returning after being away for a year and was wondering if SE ever did anything with it yet like they talked about.

I have to wonder about this myself. I encountered the weirdest situation just a few days ago.

Character 1 was on 99 RUN/DNC
Character 2 was on 99 DNC/NIN

Both characters were in a party, in the Battlegrounds zone where I was going to work on skilling parrying on the mandragora there for both of them simply because I could. I was noticing weird hate issues so I did an experiment. Character 1 engaged in a fight with a mandragora, Character 2 stood by and did nothing until the battle was about halfway over. Character 2 did Fan Dance (a self target JA), and suddenly the mandragora went after Character 2 and I had trouble re-establishing hate on Character 1. It just kept bouncing between characters until I finally killed the mandy. Keep in mind Character 2 did nothing but use Fan Dance once during the fight, not even melee, spells, etc.

They did adjust enmity to a degree by reducing how much enmity you generate from damage. However, this only managed to do so much, given that with new Delve weapons, it's still extremely easy to generate enough damage to hold the monster on you until every DD is at the hate cap.

Is it intended behavior that I can do ~3k Aeolian Edge in abyssea on 8+ targets, and someone can follow it up with an 800 aeolian edge and pull everything but the main target off of me? Or pull everything off of me with a Cure III/IV? I came back to the game just this past December and for the life of me I don't get aoe threat in terms of offensive elemental ws; not since before the supposed recent enmity adjustments and not after.

The enmity adjustments where like a 1 of 5. Give SE 2 years to iron the details out. They'll get it together.

It's been improved for some support jobs. I no longer pull hate on my first Elegy on bard. On BLM I no longer pull hate with a Bio II while trying to proc.

Thanks for posting the replies. Many of my friends (and my better half) have been asking the same questions and I have been too busy with other more pressing issues to log into FFXI to check in depth.

I have been on the fence with FFXI since the system got all whacked up. I've been doing nothing but synthing and such until it is worked out. I hope it gets worked out soon as this should be priority #1 of SE... not new content atm. "Fix your vital bugs first before adding additional content" should be a mantra that all MMOs adhere to. More content just adds more bugs and can even make the existing bug worse as you try to balance the new content with the existing flaw.

I like the attention that has been given to 14... the team will still be busy after launch, it appears. I hope the same attention will be given to 11 soon.

On another note: Elder Scrolls Online's release date will be far from 14, it looks like, but Bethsoft is doing a thorough job with it. I am also waiting to see what Chris Roberts will do with Star Citizen as well. The creator of the FF series is kicking tail too with his new company. The MMORPG market is beginning to take momentum off after what seemed to be a stale creativity slump imho. I think WoW's days are numbered and will see a sharp decline in their player base when these new games get closer to retail.

So many betas, so little time...

Cut enmity gain to a third of what it was... triple damage output of most melee three months later.

Sounds about right.

I'll tell you of my experience lately in Zerhun mines while doing some GoV pages with a friend.
I pulled about 4-5 bats one at a time with my jug pet "Falcorr" then used heel and ran back to camp where my friend was waiting.
Once at camp I'd have my pet fight a single bat from the pack behind me then use snarl.
At least 3 out of 5 bats ignored Falcorr and started slapping me about.
Remember, the only actions I have taken out on these bats were fight, heel, fight, snarl.
I never hit anything or do anything else to generate hate.
THIS NEVER USED TO HAPPEN.

So on reflection, I wouldn't pull more then 3 bats at a time or I would just end up dieing if I didn't already have a fanatics drink temp item with me.

P.S BST Maat hate seemed a bit weird too.

It's mainly pet hate that still seems really wonky. For some reason it seems like they bleed hate much faster than they should be, even when they are taking little to no damage (which actually can happen nowadays; see PUP equipped with Alternator)

Yeah, groups seem to have an easier go at it. If that is the case with BST above, then I'd say any attempts to solo with BST is dead until further notice.

You can still solo stuff but hate wasn't as good as it used to be.
Be aware if your pulling a lot of mobs, some will split away from the pack and slap you about.
If you melee alongside your pet, you got to be aware of taking hate off it and turn around, then pray that snarl is up.

BSTs shouldn't have to do that... On top of that, snarl is not given when jug pets are introduced.

I knew there was something different about enmity but I couldn't figure out what, didn't know they adjusted it.
