FFXI Allakhazam Banner contestFollow

As many of you know and have mentioned in the past, our current banner for the site is extremely outdated. However, rather than just designing one of my own, I thought I'd turn it into a bit of a contest. From today through June 17th, I want people to post all throughout the FFXI forums (job forums, server forums, etc) and include, at the bottom of your post, "Pick me for the Contest Vlor!" in bold letters. However, I don't want spam posts or "+1" material posts just to up your chances. I'll only accept posts made after 2pm eastern, so no going back and editing posts.

On June 17th at 6pm eastern, I will random number generator to determine who wins, in which case I will contact them about the design for the banner. I don't know where I'll land, so posting in multiple forums and in multiple topics will be your best bet to win. I will put together the actual elements for it, so you're just coming up with the idea.

I can and will turn down banner ideas from the winner if I find them unsuitable for the site. The theme will be Final Fantasy XI related (with our site logo and the FFXI logo on the left side), and I'd like it to be either based on Seekers of Adoulin (since it's the newest expansion) or the game as a whole.

This is your chance to leave your mark on the site, so get those ideas flowing and start posting.

I can just imagine Vlorsutes returning to this and being all like YOOUUUU GUUUUUYZZZZZ...

I want a banner of melee RDMs just to see some people rage.

All these ideas and yet I've only seen one post even qualify for this contest

Maybe I don't follow the right forums and y'all are circlejerking over in =276 or something, but right now, I haven't seen a lot of poster turn out.


I'm definitely going to promote my desire for a "Ladies of Vana'diel" banner, so I might as well enter. I have no good ideas, I just want a new banner.

There's a sig somewhere of someone telling Mellowy he wouldn't be happy until ...something about Summoner getting overpowered. A picture of that end result would seem to be a good banner. Then a pop up of a RDM Melee doing triple the damage.

At the risk of sounding sane, why not just accept all the banners people make, eliminate any the are terrible or don't qualify, and then RNG the ones that are left for a winner? Ya know, sort of like a normal contest.

Right, so have folks submit a concept. Even if it's done in MS paint.

Then stick em all in a fish bowl and draw names, and then ask them what the squiggles on the MS Paint banner are actually supposed to be.

Your heart might be in the right place, but the job forums will only really stir with updates, be it directly to the job or gear they get changing builds around. I don't know if there's some behind the scenes pressure to get people to post more, but I'm kind of turned off by the prospect of promoting spam simply to win a contest.
