Downloading SOA on new computer problem...Follow

#1 May 27 2013 at 5:18 AM Rating: Decent
So I bought and downloaded SOA when it came out ~2 months ago. I've now bought & switched to a different laptop and just curious as too how I'd go about downloading SOA on this laptop. Before, I just went to the site that tracked your order and typed in my order # and password. Then I could download SOA from there. Now, it tells me that the downloads no longer available and only worked for a month. Does SE really expect me to pay for the expansion again just because I switched to a new comp or is there something else I can do? If anyone could help me out would be greatly appreciated ^^

did you delete the download from your other system? Could just copy that over to the new one.

It's always wise to backup up these digital downloads to flash drive or CD/DVD.

As for not having an active link, have you tried contacting the people you downloaded it from? They may be able to give you a link that's active for like 72 hours or something so you can grab it.

Amazon always keeps a live link around in their order page. Other places may only keep it live for a month, alas.

There is exactly the reason why i like physical copies of expansions over these digital things.

Your best bet is to just find a recent Torrent containing all the files or so. You already have the code linked to your account, so you can get the files from just about any (reliable) source.

I agree with you Catwho; this is why I refuse to get rid of the FFXI disks and I bought seekers off Amazon. Since I'm now about $100-$200 away from my new pc, I'd rather have the peace of mind of being able to reinstall without jumping though hoops.

Amazon is as good as having the disk; if I get Steam at all once I rebuild (Thinking about it; my current pc hates steam) I'll proly NOT use it for FFXI considering all the cussing I hear around here about it. (Tho I'm sure Steam and GoG have some good games for cheap for when I don't feel like FFXI)

Thanks for the replies guy^^
I downloaded it from the NA SE site, so prob no chance of the 72hr thing you were talking about happening seeing as how cheap they are XD I figured going straight through SE would of been the best >< I do still have it on the laptop, is it just as simple as transferring the SOA files? If so, how would I go abouts doing that? Pretty much which files would I be looking for?

You could get an install download from here: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/115356-Seekers-of-Adoulin-Questions-amp-Solutions-Thread

I used this when I had to reinstall fairly recently and I had encountered the same issue you had with the SE download link expiring after 1 month.
