I have NO idea what I'm doing.Follow

Hey folks, I'm a (sort of) returning player seeking some general advice.

I was feeling a bit nostalgic waiting for FFXIV's re-release so I decided to download the Seekers collector's edition and getting back into FFXI. I plan on starting completely anew, from level one. I haven't played since the release of the very first expansion and from what I've been reading... literally everything is different. Like... so different I have absolutely no idea what to do with myself. I heard the game is much more casual friendly and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how that's even possible for a game like FFXI.

Could someone give me a general rundown on what to expect after I'm done updating and can log in? How solo-able is content nowadays, and to what level? Is the 6 man group dynamic totally extinct?

Any tips or links about the current leveling content would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Can start by reading this http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/Returning_to_Vana%27diel

But just to get you excited since RoZ they've doubled the exp you get from mobs twice. To where an easy prey can give you like 60 exp now vs the 15 you got years ago. I even think the higher level easy prey can give like 80. And then they made 100k, 200k, up to 300k/hour parties possible at higher levels in Abyssea. So leveling 70-99 & gaining merits is a hundred times faster.

Dang ScaryTrees beat me to it >.<
