cant believe after so many years this is still an issue. im getting either the pol error trying to connect or the ffx-3100 error after selecting play. hopefully t works again tom so i can finish my damn trial.
3100 is generally a connection error, which could be on your side.

Talking with your ISP might be able to help as well.
Any idea what it could be? Was playing fine till I disconnected and then kept getting pol error. The ffxi one happens on rare occassion I'm able to make it past pol. I will try presenting the modem in the morning if its still acting up
Sometimes FFXI doesn't like to play nice with specific IPs for whatever reason. Try disconnecting/powering down your modem for a half hour to better guarantee your ISP would assign you a new IP once your reconnect. If yours is static, however, it'll probably require a call-in.

welp seems waiting till morning fixed the issue. im using fios so i dont know if it uses static ip or not.

Hmm..getting that same error myself. How very annoying. Guess I'll have to find something else to play til this crap gets sorted out.
[Update] Ok something is definitely going on, tried accessing the SE account page to check to see when I'll need to add more Crysta only to find that it's down for maintenance.
[Update 2] There was some maintenance going on with the accounts. Able to log in again.
