If its under, say, lvl 78 odds are you don't need it. Exceptions are things like Brutal Earring, Rajas Ring, etc.

Ya, there's always stuff you've earned over the years that you just have to accept that you have to toss. Half the sky god items, or maybe that o-hat you spent an entire weekend getting. You can get those tickets for most items, but sometimes even that's not worth it.

The moogle can store most new gear and a lot of old gear (abjs, byakko legs, etc.)

Lists can be found here
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Porter_moogle

A slip is an item in your inventory and simply, you can store a specific set of items inside the slip (item list found in above link).
Once you buy a slip, simply trade the slip and the item to the moogle, and it will be stored.
To retrieve, trade the slip, and ask to retrieve an item. Here, you'll be able to see a list of everything you have already stored.

Also don't forget that tons of stuff can be moved to mules now. For $1.00, you get a whole new inventory. Its great for vets who have tons of old r/e gear, or even stuff like old signed gear from retired friends.

This might sound a little strange, but I'm trying to level all my mage jobs to a minimum of 33 on my Galka, so I can sell and/or toss most gear lower than my RSE. Galka RSE is great for mage jobs because all pieces give you MP, which is sorely lacking.

Once the mage jobs are done, I'm going to try doing the same for melee jobs, getting them all to roughly the same level so I only have to worry about particular sets of gear.

I also have sack & satchel mostly divided up into melee & mage gear, respectively. My locker is mostly filled with Abyssea stuff I'm upgrading, while storage is full of battle trophy gear that I'm either not using or can't wear yet, since none of it can be stored or sold.

Sad thing is, you can go naked into Gusgen at 12-13 and just stay there until whenever. No one cares anymore if you have a sub, if you're geared, anything. There's almost no reason to hang onto low level gear anymore unless you plan on soloing your way up or grouping old school!

Grounds of Valor - A type of quest that rewards xp for killing monsters, can be repeated indefinitely.

Players now level up in alliances completing Grounds of Valor quests. The main focus is to complete the quests as fast as possible and use the xp reward as your main xp source. Gusgen mines is a popular place for leveling starting around lv12.

The issue is that you need to be able to gain xp from the mobs to complete the quests, so people use level sync to keep their level low enough to maintain xp in these areas. This makes lower level players in high demand in order to keep the xp rolling in.

If you've been away for 2 years, just came back, and have inventory problems, then you need to get your Mog Sack immediately.

It is.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Mog_Satchel

They do the same thing- but are two different storage bags.

I've found mules to be sorely lacking as a practical method of inventory management. While a mule with fully expanded inventory offers an enormous amount of storage space (both of my mules are at maximum inventory/safe/sack/storage), it is bottle-necked by an 8-item wide delivery path.
Simply filling up one newly-finished mule character took two entire evenings of tedious logging-on / logging-off. Thus, most of the stuff that gets moved onto a mule never gets moved off again; it's just too much of a pain. We need SE to add a method for fast bulk transfers between same-account characters.

While I know you're right, I don't want to be That Guyâ„¢. Even though I'm usually Level Synced, I like to have level-appropriate gear. I think the only one I've skimped on so far is BRD; went in with a level 1 NQ harp & a Mary's Horn, and leveled it to 34 that way.

Just never throw out Joyeuse. You can go out there any day of the week and see a pop, but the moment you need one some silent asshole will be there trying to outclaim you.
