Returning player: some questionsFollow

so I returned for the new expansion, to at least try the game out again, and I have some questions, but first: a little background.

I prefer soloing whenever possible, simply because I don't like waiting around for an indeterminate amount of time to find groups for things.
i'll jump into a group looking for member for something I was going to do anyway in a heartbeat, but yea, don't like forming my own groups.
i'm just not a good leader.

I have blu, bst, dnc, drg at 99, although I was never very good at blu. I like the class, I just couldn't seem to do as good as others with it.

are empyrean +2 armor items soloable now?

which classes could I use to solo, and which classes +2 items could I get in such a manner?
I realize there's probably better options than empyrean +2 armor, but to be honest, I always liked the concept of class specific armor sets, and since the empyrean +2's generally don't suck hardcore balls, i'd like to pick up a bunch for different classes

now that choco blinkers got nerfed to hell, is there a non-boring way to make cash? I never got into VW, and I detest farming unless absolutely nessecary.

I see that dynamis can now be solo farmed, which might be a good way to make some cash, except the guides I can find on it are kinda vague.
which zones should I do? which mobs should I be targeting? what exactly are the 'time extensions'?

thank's for your advice in advance

You reached lv99 and it sounds like you were not enjoying FFXI. The gameplay really has not changed significantly since you last played and if anything, it will probably move further away from solo and low-man content. It may not be in your best interest to return, especially since very little has been added with the expansion.

Some answers:

Soloability of abyssea content is a funny thing and it's very relative. It's not so much about the jobs you have, but the atma, gear, and the NM. So yes, most/all empy+2 can be completed solo, just find the NMs and read what other people have done. I know BST is a strong candidate. Of course, you can always use a brew...

Dynamis is a common way of making gil with BST as a prime job for that. Weakness staggering and time extensions should be covered here:

BST is the simplest job to solo most things. You can solo a lot of +2s with BST, the main thing that will hold you back is getting KI, since most +2 items drop off mobs that require KI to pop and BST isn't one of the better jobs for soloing KI. Still there are mobs like Koios (T2 VNM) that you can solo the pops for and get items off np. Still, having soloed a lot of plain seals on bst it is a bit soul destroying without the yellow procs.

Honestly I think you could use more self confidence. With BLU you're in a good position to form a group to farm seals (as long as you have proc spells) - I know it can be intimidating but you might actually like the game more if you tried forming groups occasionally.

If you're hell bent on soloing I'd peruse wiki and see what mobs that drop +2 items that you can get the KI from boxes - then use blu to build amber (with sanguine blade, SO AWESOME. LOVE ME SOME SANGUINE BLADE) and get KI from boxes, you will also make money that way since gold boxes drop all sorts of npc junk and stuff that sells for 5-10K (a few things more). It will be slow to build pop sets since it is entirely random but you will make a fair bit of cash.

I also find BLU somewhat challenging to use to solo NMs it takes a lot of coordination/good macros/sensible spell set ups/good gear - but if you have basic atma like MM, RR and VV you should have no problem soloing NQ mobs.

You could also sell any pop sets for empy item mobs that you build and make giving you +2 items part of the deal.
