I'm curious if any other guides have been published in the years other than those 2. I know they are useless but I like looking at them randomly.

No other guides have been published that I know of.

The problem is that the amount of content that exists in FFXI is so vast that a guide would need to have several volumes. The Brady guide was terrible, but the amount of content it contained was far from all inclusive and that was at launch.

If you're bored, you could try turning the wiki into a comprehensive pdf using LaTeX.

Yea I know it sucked but it was nice to have the pictures and stuff to look at. It was fun reading their ideas on jobs n subs lol.
It's the only reason I get guides honestly. great restroom browsing.

While the Brady guide was terrible, that isn't the point.

The guide was what? 150 pages? That was about half the content in the game at launch. Can you imagine how much more content has been added to this game? And this isn't even considering updates.

A printed guide simply isn't feasible unless you want an Encyclopedia Britannica sitting in your bookshelf.

I really recommend trying to build a guide of your own. Limit it to information for new players if you want to keep it less than 1000 pages.
I'm sure there are many players, new and old, that enjoy reading over a colorful guide like the Brady one. How cool would it be if they read your guide?

Some players put together a fishing pdf guide years ago and it STILL receives praise, so this kind of thing is definitely not unheard of.

The reason why that particular guide is still praised today is because it does something that most websites to not:
It lists the zone, what fish are there and what baits/lures you need to catch them in a spread sheet.
It's handy if you want to see how many fish you can catch with the same bait from the same zone at a specific skill cap. :)
(So if your skilling up, you know you can catch more then one fish and gain skill from it, your a winner.)

There's actually been about a half dozen or so, but only in Japanese. One was dedicated to crafting, another as a bestiary. Can't remember all of them. And if you count things like the Vana'diel World Report and the Vana'diel Fashion Show, it's probably a good 20 or so FFXI books. I bought a few a while ago when they were still available at the JP Amazon site and it had some quality info in it (for its time).

A while back I formatted the info on the wiki for Abyssea into a printable doc. You can find it here:

I recall the Empyrean Armor checklist doc being especially popular.
