i was xping and pling my mule in bostaunieux oubliette and was getting book xp on my mule, then i alliance and mule stopped getting book xp, any1 know the minimum level in an uncapped alliance to gain xp from books?
Something like level 59 with a full alliance and a level 99 in the group. Using an Emperor/Empress band actually knocks this down to level 40 and a decennial/novennial ring pushes it down to 30.
If you stick to a single party of six, even with a 99 present, you only have to be 29 without any Dedication effect.
Now halve all of these again for the double exp event.
tl;dr An alliance spreads exp more thinly that you have to be a certain level to even get 1 exp to get book credit.

Handed out yearly, should be another in a month or two actually .

great thanks how do you get 1 of the decennial/novennial rings?
As Raelix said, these are a yearly thing - the Decennial was for 10 years of XI, and the Novennial was for 9 years. Before those two they were called anniversary rings iirc.
I imagine since this is the eleventh year and this is XI, we will be getting an extra special ring this year. Maybe more charges *crosses fingers*
I hope I don't miss out because I am going to be in a hotel for a month starting next week, working 7 days a week 12 or so hours a day.
I actually bought the 360 collection even though I don't have a 360 and am -this- close to getting a 360 and loading it up in the hopes that the crummy hotel wifi can handle it. I am probably dreaming though.
I figured even if I don't use it I can wait a year and sell it for a profit or give it to a friend who would like to play but doesn't have a real comp.

I've traveled before and used crummy hotel wifi each time to check on my AH stuff and chat with people online. Never had a problem anywhere. The game really doesn't take any bandwidth compared to most wiki using programs/apps.
When I was younger, my brother & I used to play together on dial up. If we were standing in town with lots of ppl it would lag a little but that very well could have been our computers at the time. I think FFXI is capped at lower speeds.
