What is the best solo job tandem?Follow

Title may not be very clear, but basically what I'm asking is what jobs would I need to level to solo all of the soloable content?

For instance, I have BST at 99 and I know that it can solo a lot of content, but there are certain things it can't solo. So what job(s) cover(s) what BST can't solo? And then what job(s) cover(s) what that job can't solo, etc.

After soloing a few things on BST I've become really addicted to the accomplishment of soloing things (whether it's a difficult solo or an easy solo, I just get a good feeling when I do it). So I'm looking to level all jobs that can solo effectively, and I want to cover all facets of soloing and I know that can't be accomplished on just one job.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is stuff bst can't solo?

(That's a serious question, it seems bst can solo everything)

I think stuff bst can't solo is when you need to sleep waves of mobs or ranged/magic damage only stuff or when you need to cure an npc.

SCH, I think can solo some stuff bst can't, well at least from what I've heard people say on the board (wings missions)PUP probably can solo a few selective things better than bst... Bst can solo anything nin can I think but NIN is a -better- soloer if you want KI in abyssea...

Things BST can't solo:

Anything that can kill your pets with Doom/Death in quick succession.
Anything that's immune, or becomes immune, to physical damage (I'm lookin' at you, ToAU).
Anything that flies.
Anything that does more damage than you can keep up with, either Reward-wise or financially (new pets, Dawn Mulsum, etc.)

BLU is a good soloer, as is RDM or SCH, and they have the advantage of being able to hit flying/physical immune enemies.

If you have enough gil BST can solo pretty much anything thanks to Dawn Mulsum/Reward.

That's basically what I meant, yeah. I know BST can't solo mobs that fly like KSNM99 (that's the only mob I can think of right now) and mobs that require magic damage.

I figured RDM would be a good choice, but I am happy to hear that SCH can also solo, as I would rather level SCH than RDM. It's probably going to be a toss up between BLU and SCH then. If BST can solo everything that other melee can solo, just slower (except for KI as someone pointed out, which I will deal with once I start soloing in Abyssea more), then I am fine with that.

In terms of BLU and SCH, is there any reason/advantages to use one over the other for soloing? I know BLU is generally a very gear dependent soloer. Anything besides that?

Blu, Pup, Sch, Rdm, Smn and dnc would be the first jobs that come to mind with viable soloing abilities. What was stated good insight but I'll through what I know on pup for good measure. Anything a sch or rdm can solo by kite nuking, sleep nuking, or kite and dotting. A pup can too with their pet. In some situation it's easier some situations it's harder.(Depending on high big the kite you have to do. The bigger the kite path the harder it is on the pup.) However it's a lot tougher to learn how to do this on pup then it is on other jobs. And it's skills you very rarely will use outside of soloing.(Where as rdm and sch can learn how to properly time their dots and nukes, learn distances etc etc.) But it is an alternative.

If it is 1 on 1 fighting, I tend to use THF/DNC for soloing stuff. Advancing through WotG and ToAU, I was able to solo 90% of the fights with either thf or blu, depending on what the fight would involve. (90 cap at the time I believe, and mostly AH geared that would make me a pimp if the cap was still 75)

Yeah, THF I intended to level anyway for farming purposes and what not if nothing else, and with it would probably come DNC.

While I have nothing against PUP, and have been told volumes of its solo prowess, I'm just really overall not into the class, so I don't think I will be leveling it. :(

I'm leaning towards SCH, but BLU is a possibility too. Any other information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help so far.

I have blu leveled and it's awesome, however, the spell range generally sucks monkey balls and their ranged magic spells are generally very MP expensive and mediocre powered. I don't have sch leveled, but if I was someone who wanted to "solo all the things" and choosing a magic DD I would level sch over blu, because blu still relies a lot on melee damage output for their DPS.

I leveled blu because it's my favourite final fantasy class and because it's desirable for abyssea and voidwatch - but there isn't really many things I can think of that I would bother to solo with BLU that I can't solo better/safer on BST

Blu -is- cheaper to level than SCH (but way more of a pain) - and can share some of your DD gear with BST/THF etc, but it is really mixed damage vs magic damage

In my opinion, go with sch over blu.

Okay, well, that makes sense. I'll stick with BST then in that regard.

What about RDM? Would RDM be a better magic soloer (I guess you could say) than SCH or the other way around? I don't really much about SCH and RDM so any info is helpful.

RDM, despite not being the "OMG WE NEED A RDM" class it once was, is extremely easy to solo things on. I really can't think of a fight where RDM didn't stand a chance in soloing it, where other (non-pet) jobs could solo it with ease. I know a lot of RDM have converted over to SCH to speed along soloing content thanks to a superior damage output, but I have to say that from my personal experiences, RDM is just 'easier' to solo stuff with in general.

For fights where you can't straight tank, a well geared SMN or BST both do just fine, and if you like the idea of pet jobs, the SMN class is completely reasonable to solo with vs most physical-resistant enemies, but I'd strongly recommend RDM if you want to have an easy time of the vast majority of soloable content available.

If I could give one piece of advice, it's to go to youtube and look up videos of different classes soloing stuff, you'll learn how to do it, as well as get some insight as to what playstyle best suits yours when soloing.

That's a good idea. Think I'm gonna go with RDM, but I will look SCH some more. Thanks a lot for all of the help. Definitely gonna look up some videos. Haha.

BST is probably the most important one. DNC, NIN, PUP, and SMN can also do some good stuff solo.

Note that PUP is the only job that can solo all three mob types in the ACP 8 mission, but you do have to switch frames around.

FWIW, PUP's biggest weakness is fighting multiple mobs, especially waves of mobs that die quickly, because you have to keep using Deploy. Once the target dies, the auto goes idle, even if it was in the middle of a Cure VI spell that you need to stay alive. BST pets (I think SMN too) keep a hate list and will usually switch to another target automatically.

SMN is pretty good at covering the enemies that have one or two elements of strong magic attacks that would normally make short work of a BST, as well as things that can doom/death quickly. For example, I've soloed Tristitia (strong thunder magic attacks) and Xibalba (doom aura).

This really depends on what type of events/content you want to solo.

Bst will totally own the other choices in the lower-lvl events like dynamis, just due to how level-correction works for pets. When it comes to harder fights, it becomes more of a "how much gil are you willing to spend to win" type of fight.

Smn can pull off some awesome solos in abyssea due to atmas and pet defence, also a pretty stellar soloer outside of abyssea if geared good, downside would be the use of mp compared to gil, where mp is limited, gil isn't.

rdm and blu i see in kinda the same light, survive longer than your enemy. I know blu has a lot of power, but in long solos it works more like rdm. cocoon up, phalanx up, wittle em down. Long fights but sometimes fun.

nin and thf are just "Can't touch this" dancemoves, nuff said.

Pick a style and make it work, no job alone will magically make you a solo god, but with effort, they all can.

Tristitia is easy-peezy for BST with RR/DG/FF. Too many people rely on regen...

Xibalba you can just heel/fight a fast pet like Falcorr to clear the Doom because its timer matches the duration of the aura and is removed when the aura ends; you have to stay in the aura the whole duration for it to actually kill you. Death can be a problem though, but usually you'd be doing him for the Merit abyssite and have help anyway.

Ugh. Now I'm thinking of SMN. :( I was originally going to go with SCH after originally thinking RDM, but now I'm leaning towards SMN. After leveling BST and using it a lot as of late I have grown to love pet jobs.

This is harder than I thought. Maybe I'll just level all of them. Haha.
