New music too. Probably the city must... I like it. Didn't like the trailer music too much, so I'm glad.

Love the information on Geomancer.. Indicolure and Geocolure (I want to say Indiclosure and Geoclosure) sounds awesome and I am sure there will be spells for Refresh, Regain, Haste, etc......now just have to wait for Rune Fencer

Looks like at least 7 HNM, tied in some way or another to the colonization system. Sounds pretty sweet, assuming it's not an absurd chore to do colonization stuff to get pops for them.

From how they've described it, each player gets a homestead and they have to push back against the wilderness to expand their territory. Sounds like it might work similar to the final 3 abyssea zones. Like, you expand your territory, which causes low level monster attacks, and after beating enough of them you unlock higher tier waves, until finally you unlock the corresponding "Naakule" HNM.

I seem to recall something about "working together", which I hope means that you can ally your homestead with the rest of your linkshell and/or friends, so you don't have to fight over whose homestead to progress via battles. Plus, if you can have a mini-nation of linkshell colonies, that lets you have real linkshell-vs-linkshell competition rather than the toxic HNM MPK BS from pre-abyssea times, or the current epeen FFXIAH.com points / kparser fights ;) Reminds me of Eve Online, actually. (Except of course that this is mostly what I imagine they mean, so of course it reminds me of things I've heard of).

I really want to like GEO but I am worried it is going to be overly fiddly with casting from certain directions etc. Want to know more about the effects of cardinal chant

Here are the casting directions in relation to the mob for elemental magic:

North: Magic Attack Bonus
East: Magical Crit HItrate
South: Magical Accuracy
West: Shortens Casting time

Would be nice if SE would create a macroable ability or command to make you face a specific direction, but I"m guessing they won't, Otherwise, it'll be like you said, and tedious to constantly look at the compass, positioning in relation to the party, etc. just to fire off the strongest possible ring-a-ding-ding.

Lucky I waited to ask, I was going to post a separate thread a day or two ago:

What do people find the most intriguing from the Seekers of Adoulin website in terms of enemies & areas?

Considering how little activity the current job forums have, I wouldn't be surprised if they're all merged.

Anyone else notice the bell....it looks like it could be a new weapon class. If I read it correctly it said something about skilling up bell. Could it be that we now have a new weapon?

I'm mixed about the music that's playing (the city of Adoulin). On one hand, it opens fantastically and the theme's great.

...then the string tutti comes in and there's so much damned reverb in their new samples that it sounds washed out.

And really it's just the legato strings: the short attacks and marcato sound fine. When you hear the full strings it's just too much and overpowers everything. Once the tutti goes away again and you hear the bassoon/horns with their licks it's back to sounding really cool. Hopefully they pull that back some.

In terms of the new areas, I am intrigued by the idea of area reclamation and setting up outposts in areas that we clear from the jungle. Also SE spoke about how for certain battlefield events, we will be able to find/collect statues in a zone and then piece them together to assemble a battlefield to our own specifications such as size, difficulty, and amount of drops.

My understanding is that the bell will be a new skill in terms of magic similar to bard instruments where it is equipped in the ranged slot. For Geocolure spells, bell skill + Geomancy skill will most likely have an effect on the starting HP of the Luopan that is cast on the battlefield along with the strength of the buff/debuff.

I wonder if BRD will also be given access to that instrument? Also, will GEO require the use of singing skill in its formulas, the way bard does?

If so, I can see BRD/GEO or GEO/BRD having some options.

They should be added to the dropdown list too.

I think SE learned from WoTG and how campaign doesn't have any longevity. From what they said, reclaiming the land is more about how the environment is alive and always changing. If you clear an area of vegetation, without proper maintenance, the vegetation will grow back and overtake the area. This might change at the release, but at vanafest they made it sound like Players vs the elements of nature instead of monsters directly.

I think that is a bit of a misunderstanding. The Bell will be it's own skill that is unique to GEO and other jobs will not be able to equip the bells. The part I meant about Bard was an example how bard uses two magic skills when calculating the strength/tier of a buff. Geo's I suspect will have the same thing going on where Geomancy + Bell Skill will have some calculation that affects the performance of the Luopans cast on the battlefield.

The Geo Bell itself is what allows Geomancers to cast luopans which cannot be used as a subjob. If you sub GEO though, you will have access to Indi-Spells which will give you the sphere buffs. SE said that these buffs are different than current buffs so they can stack with what already exists in the game. For instance, an Indi-Refresh sphere will stack with Evokers Roll, Ballad, and Refresh giving buffing jobs a little more flexibility in their options for subjob support. BRD/GEO and COR/GEO will be able to cast stacking area buffs with songs/rolls and Indi-spells.
