Ok after just spending an hour waiting in Aby Mis for bastion to start and then during the course of the 45 second battle I got a grand total of 51 credits. I'm trying to do them as whm, I diaga'd everything as it came in, kept stuff away from the martello and just stayed alive as I've read is the best way to approach this as whm. Wtf am I doing wrong? I need 1000 points to get my pants and after 4 hours of this crap filled event I have 100 credits to show for it.

Is there some easier way to get these credits that I'm not finding, or am i doing it wrong?

Play a job that can kill the small mobs easier?

I went as bst and focused on the smaller mobs only. Getting the kills, too. I think in 3-4 defenses I made about 3k points.

I went BST, Aeolian Edge'd a group incoming and Snarled them all onto my pet. Kept spamming and snarling to keep them from doing the stupid 'I'm gonna go all ADD now and rush the martello' thing and/or pulling them back away when they did.

You have to do things on a mob to get credits when it dies. If you did a bunch of stuff to a mob that didn't die, that's why you don't get any. It's practically the same reward rate as (post buffs) Campaign actually, but is paid out on a per-mob basis.

tl;dr things have to die for you to get credits.

You are not wrong. It is the best way for a WHM to get credits. However, it's fully dependant on other people participating. You basicly get yourself on the reward list by casting a single Diaga. Then you need other people to actually participate in the whole event and kill stuff. Everyone who participated on a monster's demise earns roughly 1000+ credits.

If you have it, BLU can sleepga and then destroy them one by one, or AoE them. BLM can ES Sleepga II and go to town. Even a crazy eva'd THF would come in handy. But there's simply no way you'd be able to kill anything on WHM for points solo.

If you have other things that you need to do in Abyssea (and you can do them solo), then you can chip away at credits by doing Resistance ops. You can get 70 or so (max 80) each game day doing Crimson Carpet ops, which are very quick to do. I did this while also leveling GAxe and clearing my GAxe trial weapon. In my case, I was doing Frigatebirds in Misareaux, which also drop Avian Remex to pop Manohra for War leg seals. Win/Win/Win/Win for me! With all the stuff you can do in Abyssea, you're bound to find some similar mix that will be efficient for you.

I go BLM for this and usually walk out with my 1000 credits in a single session of 1-2 fights. A BLM is capable of one shotting the smaller mobs, and two shotting the bigger ones. Provided you don't get punked and have the battle end in 30 seconds, you can easily knock out 4-5 mobs in each wave before the battle ends.

I go blm too. After putting it off for too long, I got 4k points in under an hour recently. As stated, sleepga the group coming in, then pick them off. Depending on how many and what kind of mobs coming in, you can get anywhere from 300 - 1000+ per battle. And if you are blm or /blm you can just warp out after and go the next fastest battle.

If you've got your club skill leveled and nobody else is really around to help, kill detectors as you can. They don't have a whole lot of HP and you can try to build TP between runs so you can open with a Hexa. Though, you'll also need some other gear and atma to really support this style, but it's still a soloist's option for WHM.

My only options are whm, drg and pup. I tried it at first on pup and everything agro'd the automaton and the same thing happened with drg and the wyvern. I got no points from either battle I did on them.

I think you could have success on pup if you reconsidered your tactics. I'm not sure what set up you're using but it can make a difference. You're definitely more likely to have success on PUP than whm if you're soloing.

Otherwise your best bet, if you want to stay on whm, is to find a melee to team up with. I generally find Mis. Coast has people participating often. If no one is at the bastion you want to do, maybe try checking a different one? And if that doesn't work, try starting a shout. you aren't the only one who needs credits and finds them difficult to solo.

The logic here is pretty simple. While you are doing the best you can as a WHM, its simply a bad job for resistance battles. You need to be able to solo kill at least one small mob before the battle ends to get any significant RC. BLM, SAM, MNK, PUP, BST DRG, NIN are all good choices. There are probably others too with the right setup. You need to be able to kill them FAST, because you will get little to no help from the NPC's around you, as they are not smart. And considering very few people do Resistance anymore, you're probably going to be alone most of the time. Battles are usually over in a minute or two, when the enemy captures the martello. Speedy dps is the key, and you probably want to sub DNC or WHM (depending on your job) on jobs that require them for self-sustaining.

Store TP to 300, as the mobs come sekkanoki > WS > WS > jump > WS > jump > WS. Or something similar. Basically, prepare yourself before Bastion starts and plan to do a lot of damage quickly. You should be able to kill at least 2 mobs this way. Aim for the small stuff so you can guarantee the kills.

Yeah, this results in what, 150-250 credits an Observer kill? Roughly?

Basically if you can't kill an orb ASAP when it's in range OR heal someone that can kill it for you (and deal with reduced credit gains) then you should hop on a job that can. It doesn't take much because they have around....2-3K health? If you build up TP beforehand with a club and unleash a decent HexaStrike (I don't know if the new merited is even worth the hassle) then you'll more than likely kill it.

Unless you're a BLM or SCH (and maybe RDM, though you'd probably be better off meleeing) you shouldn't bother trying to nuke things down: it takes too long in comparison to the Martello getting overwhelmed.
