Returning player. Advice on soloing.Follow

So I have been playing FFXI on and off for years now. I have never been a very hardcore player and I was never really into endgame events because of the time-consumption, among other things. I am a full-time student, I have a part-time job and am married, so I don't really have a lot of time to seek party and do LS events and the like. I have been in Dynamis and Abyssea shells and I find it is a little too business-like for me and I really enjoy the game most when I solo challenging fights and the like.

That being said, I do want to go back and finish pre-Abyssea content such as missions and quests that I was never able to see. However, I am also a little greedy and would like to solo everything that I can in Abyssea as well, seeing as how I am only on for two, maybe three days a week for a only a few hours each day. I'm mainly talking about AF3 gear +1 and +2 in terms of what I would like to solo in Abyssea.

I have done my fair share of research and have found tons of different answers from tons of different people on which job can solo the most content overall. I know that each and every job is situational and what a NIN can solo in Abyssea, a BST may not be able to, and vice versa. But I'm looking for the job that is going to allow me to solo the most content overall. Missions and quests from older content as well as Abyssea NMs for AF3 +1 and +2, as I said before.

My signature is VERY outdated, so I won't include it, but the only job I have at 99 is SAM, which is not fully merited. Other than that I have DNC at 80, DRK at 75, WAR at 70 and NIN at 60. I believe those are my highest jobs. Any information would be greatly appreciated, and I have no objection to leveling any particular class. I enjoy mages, tanks and DDs all the same. Thank you very much in advance for any information.

NIN/dnc BST, and DNC/nin would be good for AF+1 NM be warned though without procs drop rates are pretty bad for seals, I see alot of BST soloing alot of the AF+2 NM.

Yes, NIN will proc more red than the other two jobs you listed.

Absolutely. All three were, and still are terrific soloers.

Obviously, the better your gear is, the easier soloing will be (pdt/mdt sets, eva sets, haste macros, etc.). But between the jobs in this thread, I'd say BLU is the most gear dependent when it comes to soloing.

Not to say that BLU isn't a good soloer though. It's right up there with the best in the game.

I've solo'd at least half of my seals and +2 items on BST/DNC- the drop rate isn't awesome, but it's still totally doable. Of the stuff that I didn't solo, I've either joined a shout that I happened to see while in Jeuno, or created a small 2-4 person group for farming. The best I've had so far was me as BST/DNC tanking, with a THF and a BLM/BRD- we farmed up a ton of seals for four different jobs in just a few hours and had a blast doing it. If you do a little research beforehand, then shout a farming party for 10 mins in Jeuno, you'd be surprised how many people will be interested in joining. Plus, soloing on BST is pretty fun IMO.

Disclaimer: To be effective soloing on BST, it helps a lot to make 2x "-pdt taken for pet" magian axes (easy but takes a bit of legwork) and faming in Abby Grauberg for Atma of the Ducal Guard (one sitting).

I find I use BST the most for soloing, though BLU is better for farming pop sets from chests (still tedious though)

Even without procs most seal mobs will drop a couple seals. It's slower than having procs but soloing is just slower than grouping up period so it comes with the territory.
