Well so far so good. 1 thing ive noticed though... next to no gear in the AH til atleast lv 30...... very odd.

Inc newb question and i thought this would be the best place to put it..
In regards to travel.. Until im able to get to Rank 5 for the airships (which i hear nobody really uses) how can i get around. its hard to get a tele, and they do add up over time gil wise.. is there another way i can get to this crystals?

Go there. Other then Abyssea Maw teleports this is pretty easy and cost virtually nothing. Turn in crystals to the waypoints to "power" it. Second quest in that line are the founts.

Yeah do the researchers quests as much as possible (by the way, after the first set you can unlock the rest of the teleports in any order) and also do start opening up abyssea maws. When I actually get a minute to play I'll also see about taking you into the abyssea and getting you a bit of cruor so you can use the maw teleports once in awhile as well.
Also get your choco license, it helps a bit.

The lack of low level gear at the AH is somewhat of a problem. But there are some ways around it, too. The good news is, you don't need fantastic gear anymore at low-mid levels because most of the experiencing is done in alliances. I do most of mine solo, but I was smart and saved all my past gear on mules so I have plenty to choose from (I just came back after 2 years away).
Still, you can buy low level sets, like leather (lv 7), and low level mail and robes from armor vendors in the starting cities. And the low level sets are really cheap. Same thing with lower level weapons. One other thing you can do is use Conquest Points to purchase gear. CP is so easy to come by, so you will soon find you have many more than you need. The gear isn't great, in fact some of it is bad. But its better than nothing, and you won't have much else to spend CP on, now that Warp Scrolls are so cheap.

Oh! And if anyone is on after 5pm est time tomorrow.. i could use a hand with WIndy rank 2-3. time to take out both dragons. :)
Huge change since 2006: All level caps were removed from mission fights, the monsters were not made stronger.

hey man i'd be more then happy to help with your 2-3, i tryed to get help in jeuno today but the only /t i got was level up to 55 then solo it.... end up just buying a potion and ened up doing it my self (32war/mnk) as i am to working on getting my airpass. hit me up if your on.

Ive spoke to Joachim. Had the cutsceen, and got my first stone. Question is. How to i get more? I think, if i read correctly that i can start collecting stones as of level 30, every 20 hours? But ive tried to get others with no luck. Is there a quest that i am suppose to finish now? I think i may have read one that i am to visit maw's in a bunch of differernt areas. But i am not sure if that is correct, and if it is. can this is be done solo? (lv 35)

You can visit the maws if you are at least lv30.
Initially, you gain 1 stone every 20 hours and the npcs can hold an infinite number as far as I know.

Very first thing I do with nublets is, a day or two after they start stones, run them out to Konschtat and blast a few tonberries for their first Celerity.
Each stone you burn before getting any celerities is 2.5 stones worth of time or 1.5 stones wasted because they work retroactively on your stock as well.

Hi all,
If you all don't mind I"m gonna ask some questions also because well I'm back and I'm a newbie all over again.
I got my old account reactivated and have lvl 75 BLM my questions are.
1. What expansions do I need for this void watch or abyss so that I can level up to 99.
2. Are there level cap quests like old school lvl 50 ffxi I have to do?
3.What NPC's do I talk to get this lvling stuff going?
4. A website with guides or something? I"m back and I"m like omg I don't know what to do.

Ok, heres a issue that i thought i had fixed. But i guess not...

I downloaded a hotfix for Windows 7 that day and it has been good. Til this evening. I did a hard disk check, seems like all was ok. But so far that is all ive done as ive never really seen that error until ive started FFXI again..
Anyone have this problem? Or know of any fixes for it..
And p.s thank you all for the help and advice so far. It has helped me greatly and hope that it is also helping other new players or returning players. :)

when i first starting playing again last week, i was good for about 12 hours then after that, every 5 min id crash to the blue screeen and get the memory dump message. I downloaded a hotfix for Windows 7 that day and it has been good. Til this evening. I did a hard disk check, seems like all was ok. Motioninjoy was bluescreening me every twenty minutes after an update. Sh*tcanned it. How can a program be that crappy but nobody else has made one that does the same?
If the bluescreen references Mijxfilt.sys, it's Motioninjoy being a **** tier program. You need to write down whats actually in the bsod and it can tell you a lot about what actually happened.

Ok, if..well when it happens again ill try to get some of it down.
I kept my cell phone on camera for 2 days after that whenever i played incase it popped up to snap a pic of it but it never did. And it happening last night caught me so off guard the time i got my phone on cam it was too late as it only stays on the screen before it restarts for about 4-6 seconds... :/
