Hey all, Myself and a friend of mine are looking to return to the game after a long break. We are both looking to reroll because we cannot find our discs or our play online info. >< I was trying to find up to date populations of the servers with the most NA subs on them and it was rather difficult. We both have had toons in the mid 70s, and we are looking for a helpful server and LS to help us blast out job quests and possibly AF quests when we need them so that we can both help out with end game asap. Any info on any of this would be helpful. Thanks!

I dont have any information on server populations but as someone who had a level 75 that got deleted way back I can tell you that getting your characters levels back will be much easier this time around due to the alliance parties with grounds of valor pages. Gusgen Mines and Crawlers nest both usually have people kicking around in them and you can get to level 60 just doing those, although there are alternatives. Ive yet to do Abyssea as Im working on limit break 3, but Ive read that once you get into it you can gain levels very fast there as well. Theres alot of stuff to do both solo and endgame wise and once you reach 99 you can beat most of the missions by yourself because they removed the level cap for alot of the fights. I would also highly suggest looking into leveling the Dancer job because it has a ton of useful abilities that make staying alive much easier. Im working on Beastmaster and without the dancer subjob I would surely have not been able to complete some of the missions/quests I did at the particular levels I did them. If you have any more questions I'll check back, goodluck.

All servers have roughly the same amount of people. They did a server merge awhile ago that brought all low population servers up to a higher population. Since that time they have remained roughly even. What really matters is the linkshell, since you'll have the best luck getting groups for a lot of things through grouping with friends.

Sounds like so much has changed in 2 years. I was thinking of returning to FFXI also while waiting for the release of ARR.

We've got an expansion coming out. And in my opinion, while it's still far from perfect, the game is better than it has ever been.
