Greetings!

We have been continuing to examine the server stress ever since we implemented the /yell feature, and as a result we’ve determined that there is room to expand this feature a bit more.

While we will not be able to add this for every single area, we would like to explore ways to improve the convenience of this feature. That’s where you all come in! Which areas do you feel would benefit the most from this feature? Let us know and we will look into the options.

Between Chateau d'Oraguille and Bostaunieux Oubliette. It's the only toilet, it has to happen.

I'd like to see the /yell command added to all cities and have it all be one channel. So you can /yell in one city and be seen in the chat of all cities.

I'd also like a way to at least view the /yell channel from anywhere in the world.

Whitegate with Al Zahbi, and link all city zones together.. so... windurst yell will reach all windurst, sandy with all sandy, etc.

Not sure how a yell could reach jeuno to whitegate... but definately an option I guess there also.

Honestly, I think they should do it for each of the main cities first then monitor the amount of traffic flow of the logs. If they eventually do combine all of the cities, they will need a feature to filter chat from certain cities.

Whitegate/Al Zahbi is really the only area that they really should bother adding, but with a toggle to be able to hear those or not, only because...

On my server (dunno about anyone else's), it seems like Whitegate has become the "hub" for primarily JP-based shouts, whereas Jeuno has the majority of the EN-based ones. I see a LOT more moonspeak in the shouts in Whitegate. It's possible that there's some people who would rather tune those shouts out.

So the servers won't meltdown or merge together to form a malevolent A.I. if they increase the range of /yell? I don't know whether I should be glad or disappointed.

Howdy!

Thanks for all the feedback on which areas you would like to see the /yell feature added to.

With the release of Seekers of Adoulin, we will first be adding /yell to the below areas:

• Town areas that are added in Seekers of Adoulin
• Aht Urhgan Whitegate
• Chocobo Circuit

After monitoring how the above expansion of the feature goes, we will be looking into adding it to San d’Oria, Bastok, Windurst, and other outlying towns.

Also, the development team is currently working on and testing expanding the range in which party invites can be sent. This will take a little bit more time to finalize, but we plan on implementing this after we expand the /yell feature.

I would assume it'd be the same channel, so that while there'd still be central hub cities, you wouldn't HAVE to be in the Jeuno to see other Jeuno shouts.

This will be really nice. Not game breaking, but to not be limited to region only would be a nice perk. Now, if they can expand that to alliances (so you don't need to be in the same *zone* to form one) that are gathering it would be cool.

Each area will have its "own" yell channel? Or will Yell work cross-area?
Will it be something like:

Yell 1: Ru'lude Gardens, Upper Jeuno, Lower Jeuno, Port Jeuno
Yell 2: Al Zhabi, Aht Urghan Whitegate

etc etc.
Or will it be something like:
Yell: Ru'lude Gardens, Upper Jeuno, Lower Jeuno, Port Jeuno, Al Zhabi, Aht Urghan Whitegate, Chocobo Circuit, ...

To clarify, this expansion will make it so yells that can only be heard in Jeuno areas can also be heard in other locations. We will not be increasing the amount of chat channels.

Can you also extend the range on forming alliances? I've been making a few Voidwatch parties and leaders of other parties had to change to the same area as I am standing in to form an alliance.

We will be looking into the alliance invite range when we expand the invite distance for parties. When that time comes, we will let you know the details.

I have some mixed feelings about the yell expansion. I like the idea of it being a global chat in case I want to keep track of any yells being made while I'm in Jeuno, so that if someone is shouting for an event over there that I need, I'll still be aware of it. At the same time though, I wouldn't want to get bombarded with yells for things I have no interest in. I wouldn't want to be in Adoulin, seeing yells from Whitegate from someone putting together a ToAU mission. It'd be nice if there ends up being some way of filtering it without just toggling /yell on and off.

FFXIAH's Jeuno shout feature is actually pretty awesome for that. I keep it up in a browser window while I'm in another zone, monitoring it while I farm or do whatever.
