I had the same problem on my Macbook Air with graphics card Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 (running on bootcamp) which I use on my travels. The problem is actually with the latest graphics driver (v9.x.x.x) which is updated in a windows update. The solution will be to do a rollback on the graphics driver to the previous version (8.15.10.2696).

Just wanted to confirm that this works. Fixed the issue for me atleast =) driver version 8.862.4.4000 also works, so you don't have to revert all the way back to 8.15.10.2696.

Cheers! ^.^

Just hit Windows-key, type 'device manager', enter, bam you're there.

I don't know how people find these roundabout ways to things you can type into the start menu by name and go straight to. (Except that Windows 8 is derpy and decides system stuff is exempt unless you specify. Any wonder I sh*tcanned it within three hours of getting my Z585?)

You can tell it to include Device Manager stuff in the Metro list.

Yeah 'unless you specify' was the primary operator there, but it still didn't seem permanent, or at least I didn't have time to find how to make it so.

Wasn't the only reason. Going full drooling ****** every startup after just a few hours, never again making it past loading the background of the start menu and nothing else, and no apparent change in drivers or anything, was the main reason. Three different restore partitions taking up almost 20% of the disk? Goodbye factory garbage!

Later found out that Win8 didn't like hybrid crossfire with A series or something, but it had its chance...

Funny aside: My laptop has more shader cores than my desktop for now.
