New Players; Problem With InventoryFollow

#1 Oct 04 2012 at 6:53 PM Rating: Decent
Hello,

My wife and I are new players of Final Fantasy XI. This website has been a great help in helping us to get started. I was hoping someone could assist us regarding an inventory issue.

Our inventory is not full, and the item in question is not a temporary item, but we have noticed items the game says we have received are not in inventory.

For example, we are still at the beginning of the game and are having to get three sheepskins for a quest. We spent nearly an hour killing Wild Sheep, and after the third time the game told us we had received the sheepskin we noticed in our inventory that I did not have any and she only had two.

Is there an issue with the game telling you that you received items but then you never actually get them? The information screen is not saying "Player Name received sheepskin", it is saying "You have received sheepskin".

Any help would be a big help. We are in the same party and do not want to spend unnecessary extra time getting items we have already earned.

Thank you.

In short, the items are probably in the treasure pool. When you form a party, whenever an item drops, it goes into a pool so that it can be distributed. All item/gear in the pool can be viewed, and passed or lotted. If at least one person in the party does not take action, the item will drop to the highest bidder (or randomly if no bids were made) after 5 minutes. You can access the pool by bringing up the mini menu and selecting "Treasure".

If you're partied together, the loot that drops from monsters actually goes to the treasure pool and not directly to your inventories. After five minutes, the loot is then automatically divided between the party members, unless its lotted first. You can see your treasure pool contents in the same menu you use to attack mobs (it'll say treasure).

Alternatively, your inventories could be full. If your inventories are full, nothing more can be added.

I don't know your circumstances without more details, so I can't say this is what's going on for you, though.

edit: beaten by xypin. I need to type faster.

Might want to make sure your inventory is set to auto-sort if your collecting stuff as well.

Sheepskins don't stack, though.

And sheep teeth.

In addition, even though the skins don't stack, they will be ordered together, making it easier to see how many total you are carrying.

I had this same thing happen to me the other day. Was fighting for a item kept fighting when I checked & sure enough it was in inventory and never said I got the item.

Considering how neurotic I've been about things reaching my inventory and not being full recently, farming sky pops, I can plainly say: No, nothing silly like that is going on.
