Hello everyone, my name is Typhara, i am a Final Fantasy 11 veteran of old. I am here on this site tonight as a result of Seekers of Adoulin. I am issuing a challenge to myself, the challenge is this:

I am going to start from scratch, as a level one character, this character will be on a new server where noone knows me. I will level said character and get the items and equipment i need. I will not gimp my skills everything will be up to par. I will complete the nation quest and all of the addons. This will all be done before Seekers of Adoulin is released. I will be recording this as a documentary of sorts for public display as to show the process of my challenge. The server, character, or class has yet to be decided and will be thought about.

Now here is where you awesome lovers of Vana'diel come in, help me pick the server, race, class for this. I have no preference for anything at this point so im willing to work with it. I have played most of the jobs in the game so i am familiar with them.
Also, as we all know, there are some very hard challenges in the game, mission wise so i am looking for a linkshell to assist, this is a personal challenge and i am in no means expecting total dedication from anyone.

Thanks for reading this and leave your thoughts on the questions above and on the challenge itself, may the goddess Altana light your way!

Where will you be posting your recordings? Do you have a YouTube channel? I'm interested in watching this, it could be fun, also if I get my ffxi working I'm willing to come to Asura too and play with you if need be :-D

That sounds like a grand setup, i have always heard good things about beastmasters. It would be great to have a friend onboard, the more people there are the funner it is and the more easier it will be! Asura, wasn't that the test server for the xbox 360 version, i believe it was though i may be mistaken. Yes, i have a youtube page and thats there they will be uploaded along with the rest of my videos. Hope i do not get flagged for posting a link but here it is www.youtube.com/user/muffinites .

Mithra (signature race of FF11, along with tarutaru and galka, but tarutaru don't have knees and galka aren't real people).
Red Mage (signature, old school job of FF11; extremely versatile and one of the best 2hours around).
Lakshmi (I'm on Lakshmi, and would like to see it first hand).

Also, are you going to be doing any crafting?

My question:

When was the last time you played FFXI?
Things have changed, so I'm curious about what level of experience you are bringing to this project.

This is a unique, but thinly veiled generic "race server job" thread, at least. Brava.

Now come on. That's not nice Ralrra. No one wants to ever be followed by a Galka, no matter what they're wearing. Get back to the mines. I need more Mythril.

This certainly sounds like a fun adventure.

Race:I'd suggest hume
Server: if you decide on Phoenix, drop me a line, I have a LS that I'm sure would offer a great deal of help
Job: An idea popped into my head... what about trying to follow, in some vague way, the Final Fantasy Tactics jobs flow chart:

http://squarehaven.com/games/PlayStation/Final-Fantasy-Tactics/guide/jobs/

since you are trying to, I think, chronicle your character's "growth". Yeah, an easy thing for me to suggest and not have to do. The melee side translates pretty well into FFXI, the mage side not quite as well, but with a little tweaking could.

Or, just play dragoon.

It isn't against forum rules on here, so long as you try to keep it to just one topic. If you just make updates on here about it, then I don't have an issue.

Additionally, since you're a fledgling Warrior, I've sent you a Butterfly Axe to get you started down the path of using their best weapon. Though using a spear might seem to be a good idea given that you're wanting to become a Dragoon, you'll be best off early on using a Great Axe for leveling just because of how useful things like Shield Break and Sturmwind can be.

Wow, I'm like a split personality.

I'm like:
1) Good luck to you on this.

or

2) FFXI is so easy now, it's not a challenge at all.

Then my very contradictory...

3) FFXI is such a huge timesink already, why make it harder? Translated: I have no life and now I want an unlife.

That happens when it's still reencoding. Can take like fifteen minutes if you're coming from a weird res and a lot of videos going up at the same time.
