Coalheart; Thanks. Tho I understand the better quality one is 10 bucks; not much but it still rankles, which is why I avoided it on my new pc and went with Windows 7 instead.
I'm hoping Windows 9 will bring it back so we don't have to use things like ClassicShell. I know 7 won't be supported forever either.

Mild update bump, I forgot to play with teh title screen configs when that option came out. Goodbye squashed/fat charas on the select screen! Looks a lot better...Anyway I updated that part of the guide.

Okay, another day, another update. Our old friend, MotionInJoy, has become abandonware. I tried it b/c I'm prepping to head to XIV once Seekers finishes, and I was sick of borrowing Neko's controllers.
So I got a Dual Shock 3 on the way and found a better homebrew way of getting a PS3 controller to work that isn't adware/abandonware/bluescreen prone (Tested with my brother's Sixaxis which he graciously loaned me until the Dual Shock 3 gets here). The only problem is it steals your R2/L2 buttons..UNLESS you xpadder them. Maybe someday someone will fix that. ^^ But I like how it works and it works fine with the emulators I play for PS and PS2 currently as well, so I'm happy. Having to drag out Xpadder is a small price to pay.

Okays, small update; Homebrewers have brought back direct input for the DS3 that was lost when motioninjoy went down the toilet. Added to the guide, and I love that wrapper. :D

Windows 10 is out. I've retired from the game, but I still care as long as it's still running. Anyone still play and is on Windows 10? Runs okay?
Anyway there's a updated version of the wrapper, so that's fixed, but I'd really like to know. :)

I haven't experienced any problems with XI since switching to 10. I can't say that about some of my other programs however. The game crashed the first time I launched it and Windows told me something about needing additional Direct X components which it installed for me and it worked fine after.

Thank you. I guess it's just "install the rollup" then and possibly make sure the compat mode is on. Tho if anyone else knows anything please let me know.

My only issue (with win 7 not win 10) is that my Logitech G600 gaming mouse seems to lag. I had this issue before (some years ago) but now i can't remember how to fix it. Any info you can dig up on that would be helpful for sure.
edit: My old generic laser mouse works perfectly fine.

New update. I'm temp back in FFXI for the month (but only this month; there was crysta left) so I added the official d/l for the install (and a word to the wise about installing it on win 10) and a few minor tweaks to reflect consoles are disappearing.
Oh and if you want to know what the cussing problem was; I tried to install from the disks first. It messed up. I was getting these as errors once I swapped to the downloadable version:
Internal Error 2711.EX567_ALL
Feature transfer error: Error -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
It turned out it's fixable if you see that. This is the fix if you see that error. Works on Windows 10 so you don't have to go though the garbage I went though!
