I have a beast master level 99 that I solo most of the time. Im just not getting how to get gold pyxides in Abyssea Misareaux. I have soloed every other piece but the feet. I thinking amber lights would drop the boxes. Can someone give me some tips on how to solo these drops?
Thanks
Kendel

I'd recommend building amber light on T1 abby VNM mobs. They give amber like the ephemeral mobs give azure. Other than that, kill fast and be lucky.

Not true. Enhanced amber comes from certain mobs, different in each zone. Normally your best bet is the "avatar" type mob (carby, garuda, titan, etc.) in each zone that has one. Wiki has an 'Abyssea Lights' page that can give you mob types to shoot for to build amber quickly.

Link: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Abyssea_Lights

In Misareaux Coast [A], killing Jala is a good bet. Bugards and apkallu are also listed as normal mobs that give double amber per kill.

However, you don't want to farm up too much amber. You do want enough amber so that you see more gold chests than anything else, but you don't want so much amber that you start consistently getting the large gold chests, since that adds another type of potential item to the chest, reducing the likelihood of seeing an "Items" chest by a fair margin. Large gold chests will have Temporary, Powerful, Items, and Key Items, whereas normal gold chests do not have that Key Items option.

Skubsteve, while Dom is incorrect as far as VNMs giving enhanced lights on par with what ephemerals do, he is still correct though that they do give enhanced light. All Notorious Monsters, besides giving guaranteed Pearlescent when killed, will also give 5x the light value that a normal monster will. That's one of the reasons why farming Pearl off of T1 VNMs is so useful, since, while they are Notorious Monsters, they aren't very strong or have high HP, they respawn quickly, they give guaranteed Pearlescent light, and they give 5x how much a normal mob would.

The most important thing is sheer kill speed. If you were a BLU that was whiskering 10+ mobs at a time, you could have all of your lights capped and still get enough gold pyxides that you'll wind up getting plenty of empyrean feet.

One thing you can try is just shouting and asking someone to invite you if they find BST feet that they don't need. I would even suggest jogging over to the spot between Squibs and Slashers, as that's a common spot for groups to AoE farm mobs. A /shout can get lost in the spam of battle messages, so try giving one of the members there a /tell politely asking if you can have a spare Ferine Ocreae should they come across one.

Also put you're looking for them in your search comment. Whenever I found feet I or nobody with me needed, I'd do a quick zone search for comments. Hooked up a few people that way.

There are several methods to go about getting your boots, I have found that setting your amber in the range of 100-120 via Primal Rend killshots puts you in the range where feet drop the best. Understand that you can get HQ boxes drop at any time (we've all seen the first blue box drop a TE just after we got in there). Once you get your amber set, focus on melee kills to get your pearl as high as you can to increase frequency of chest drops.

Setting amber lights on T1/Ephemeral mobs and pearl on popped NMs is usually the most time efficient method. Avoiding ruby kills is quite essential as it accumulate at an accelerated rate in every zone.Take a peek at "Abyssea Lights" in the wiki to target what you need for lights before your hunt.

In the perfect world, you would want capped pearl and amber 100-120. When I solo boots or help a shellmate, it never takes us more than 30 minutes to get the desired boots after setting lights which, depending on the area and mobs, can take 30-40 minutes for an hourish total. As contrary to norm as it seems, you have no need for blue chests as you will normally be long gone before your 2 hours runs out.

Good luck to you.

Also don't get too discouraged if you just get crappy luck. While the above poster has had good luck I've killed mobs for HOURS and gotten 15+ pairs of the wrong feet before. It happens sometimes.

oh god, feet farming can be a pain even if you do everything right and spawn enough boxes for armor to start appearing in the chests.
However you really need to start wishing for a pair of boots you don't really need as the ones you do want, seem to take forever to spawn.

Good luck, the boots are worth it. :)

I think the goal is max Pearl for a **** load of boxes and ~120 Amber. I want to say 128-max Amber is going to give you more Key items from Gold Boxes and reaching that middle ground of 120 Amber gives you boxes with a higher chance of "Powerful Items". Please correct me if I'm wrong.

you will have to take into account the abyssites that gives bonus to all 4 categories of lights.
I believe it the you need less lights points to reach the cap for whatever it is you're going for.

You know, come to think of it, neither have I.

Oh hell, have they been missing for months but nobody noticed because they're so unimportant? Smiley: laugh

Wiki says that his appearance is tied to bastion, that if not enough people are doing bastion, he won't show up. I can't say one way or the other whether its true or not, but its not much of a stretch to see why its never up.

Because it's lolBastion. People do it for leg pieces and never touch it again. Now if they gave rewards worth a damn and the martello wasn't so weak a fart in its general direction would off it, then maybe it'd be worthwhile to do again.

I don't know why more people don't do it. What isn't fun about standing idle for 30 minutes in between 20 second fights?
