G'day guys,

I'm still only lvl 50 so I wont be getting into Abyssea into time soon but after doing a bit of reading it seems it would be in my best interest to start my 'counter' as soon as possible, so onto my question:

Do I just have to watch the CS and talk to Joachim be begin accruing stones or do I actually have to enter Abyssea then come back and talk to him after?

Thanks for any help :)

Timer starts as soon as you get your first traverser stone. You're just unable to actually claim any more stones from Joachim until you enter Abyssea at least once, but he will start stocking them up as soon as you get the first one.

Great, so I should have a few waiting for me after I enter there the first time :-)

Thank you.

When you hit level 75 (?) be sure to do the same thing for Voidwatch stones.

FYI, there are also abyssites you can get that will cause your stones to generate faster, as well as those that allow you to hold more and make your stones worth more time.

I can carry five traverser stones (I believe six is the maximum), each one is worth an additional 12 minutes, and get a new stone every 8 Earth hours. Because I have stretches of time where I don't enter Abyssea, thus not using any stones, Joachim is now holding over a thousand extra traverser stones for me.

The Abyssite that reduces the timer works on your stored stones too though, so you don't need to be in a huge hurry to go out and get it.

Basically, it's more like hours banked rather than an actual stone count. For example, I have 8 stones, and no Abyssite to reduce the time needed to get a new stone, so my time to get a stone is 20 hours. This means I have 8 x 20 or 160 banked hours. I then get my first Abyssite that reduces my time from 20 hours to 16 hours. My stone count automatically becomes 10. I still have 160 hours banked, however 160 / 16 = 10 stones, whereas previously 160 / 20 = 8 stones.

So if you start now, and in a month or so when you start exploring, you might have let's say 720 hours banked. That'll be 36 stones. If the first thing you did was get all the Abyssite that reduced the wait time down to 8 hours, those 720 banked hours now become 90 stones. You don't lose out because you haven't gotten the Abyssite up front.
