Why is it that sometimes in Abyssea all the current Dominon Ops. enemys will just vanish from the zone then just all pop back at once? I thought maybe they where changing difficulty to up the stars on the current objective, but when they spawn back they still rate the same (EM-T to a 99.) I'm mostly the only person in the zone at the time when this happens.

The only other thing I'm wondering is about the seals you get from The Dominion Ops. Are they just set at random when you get them? I thought maybe you get them once a game day, so a reset at 0:00 of each day, but there where many times I didnt recieve anything untill about 15-20 min into the day.

Abyssea mobs despawn and respawn every so often depending on the kill speed. So if you have an alliance pumping thru them really fast, when they respawn they will level up. If you are solo and not killing very fast, they reset to their lower level. I can't remember when (or why for that matter) SE implemented this, but it is also why when you are AoE killing, the first round of respawns take longer to pop up then the consecutive rounds.

Dom Ops seals are totally random. I have been in a party for hours and only ended up with 2 seals, so I don't even think it is a guaranteed 1 per game day. I honestly thought I was tripping out and losing track of days, but when my BF and I left, I had 2 seals and he had 4. (my inventory wasn't full either)

Mobs vanish and reappear in order to reset their levels. As you kill monsters in Abyssea, the respawned ones will be of higher level, but if a group is not being killed fast enough for the level they're spawning at, everything in the group will respawn at a lower level.

Just from eyeballing things (which I admit is not the best way to measure), I get the feeling that Dom Ops have somewhere between 20% and 33% chance of giving a seal -- if you haven't already gotten one for that game day. There's always a chance that you get unlucky. Doing Dom Ops faster will mitigate the chances of being unlucky. If you do Sandsweepers in an alliance in Altepa, I would be shocked if you could go an entire game day without getting a seal (assuming your alliance is somewhat competent).

Not entirely certain on this, but I think the seals you can get from ops are restricted to the ones that you're able to get from quests in that zone. For instance, you would not be able to obtain SMN body seals from doing ops in Altepa because they are only quested in Ule and Grau. Ever since this was pointed out to me, I was paying attention to the seals I was getting from ops and I noticed that they were indeed all from quests from whatever zone I was in.

So, assuming that's true, it's still very random, but not TOTALLY so.

To me, it's felt like Dom Ops favor giving out seals that are dropped by NMs related to the mobs that you kill for the Dom Op. For instance, when I've done the Dom Op for Mechanical Menaces in Abyssea Uleguerand, I feel like I get a lot of the seals dropped by Koghatu. But I don't have any solid numbers to back that up.

To me, it always felt like I was getting any given 1/20 Dom Op seal at random with no pattern whatsoever.

From my own personal experiences, dom ops only gives seals for items which I already have the +1 or +2 of. Smiley: glare

The reset on the levels of the current enemys make sense, even though I really dont understand there desicion to make all the enemys just vanish at random. I would figure they would just respawn at a higher difficulty rather then just all dissapear to up the level at once. I'm probley just not noticing the level increase seeing as how a DC can be a couple levels difference.

The rate at which the seals drop not being 100% for the day is a very good point as well. I just had thought it was 1 allowed per game day at random of all the seals the zone had to offer. The concept of doing a page with the same type of enemy of the NM that drops seals is very interesting. Even though not proven I will definatly test that one out to see if it improves my chances at getting the seal I need.

The reason they gradually despawn (several times) and gradually revert back down to their lower/original levels is because people ******* about high level mobs being left behind at camps that they used to be able to farm weaker mobs at. It wasn't that way at Abyssea's release, it was something that was added in later. It's more of a hindrance than a help nowadays because way more people are at the level cap now and more people have the good atmas and such from Abyssea, but it's also not SO much of a hindrance that people are going to raise enough of a stink about it to try to get changed back to how it was before.

Thing is, not all the ops have a local NM that is "related" to the bunch and drops seals. For instance, the raptors in Ule only have Kur hanging around them, which doesn't drop seals.

It also makes CWburning not-a-complete-pain-to-pull-off, which is a good enough reason to keep it, for me.
