Considering everything revolves around health pools when it comes to damage intake, stick with your Galka (in the end, even considering MDT/MDB/resist/PDT/etc.). The amount of +refresh items you can get (along with a /SCH subjob) renders any lower mana pools a moot point when it comes to being a caster.

If you're doing anything solo, you're not going to be running into any issues where the lower pool should be a massive concern (since you'd be better served soloing on something like a NIN, DNC, etc.). Their higher health pools, on the other hand, make Galka incredibly handy when it comes to being able to shrugg off a few hits here and there.

The same is true today. While a Tarutaru Black Mage can potentially outshine an equally geared hume or Galka, gear is less of a focus when compared to skill.

Completely false: FFXI is entirely gear driven (even moreso than the 800lb gorilla). Absolutely everything boils down to how well you know how to macro your gear, and that's knowing how to read up on the web + copy/pasta.

Auto-attacking to victory or what little MP management is required is hardly a measure of skill.
