Only took them six -ing months (or 16 months, if you take XIV into account)

Is this for all regions or was this announcement just for NAs?

So after all this sh*t and 'feedback' they are allowing us to do what we HAD been doing for ~9 years already, but took away, but now gave back?

Just registered a second EU account, direct payment through CC, 6 diffirent credit card options, no extra requirements or 3Dsecure bullsh*t. Was done in under 2 minutes. Painless. Good job SE.

this is awesome.....if they didnt start moving backwards towards 05 ffxi. too little too late, if they did this from the get go i would have still been playing even with the return of the long arduous grind. as it stands they changed payment options it interrupted my playing and gave me enough time to see the changes they were implementing over the course of this change and frankly i dont like it and am glad my money ceased goin to support it.

which is unfortunate caused i liked the changes to the game that made it pick up and play friendly, now that they are goin backwards i dont feel so compelled to want to play anymore in fact reading the forums has just reinforced my resolve to never buy another SE game again due to their constant disrespect to their customers.

My husband decided to reactivate tonight, and I attempted to change his account over to debit card. I received an error as well. Has anyone done this yet?

I just changed my SE Account over to direct CC payments, and yes there is a $.01 pre-authorization. I doubt it will even be charged. Even if they did, it's incredibly common practice and not sketchy at all. It's merely to make sure the account exists.

I noticed that the billing is done in El Segundo, CA. That means no banks will be charging international penalties, and I won't have fishy-looking charges from UK (which led to my card being temporarily locked last month until I authorized the charges).

One drawback that I did notice: You can only use one Credit Card per SE Account, so if you have multiple FFXI accounts tired to the same SE Account, you'll have to use the same card. I doubt that will affect many people though, and it could be circumnavigated by using Crysta and/or CnB for one of the FFXI accounts.

Just to nitpick, but SE never actually stopped taking credit cards as direct payment, just new ones.

You need to level up your Error Defense Skill to lower the SE Error proc rate. It's like repeatedly hitting your head against a brick wall. At first it will hurt a lot, but after several times you'll feel kinda numb to it. Also a lot easier to skill-up off of those giant cinder block walls with the smooth shiny paint than off of rough-textured bricks. The sharp surface can do DoT to ya, you know.

For those of you having errors, are you using Firefox with NoScript? Make sure you allow gcip.com, mine didn't work at first until I noticed Noscript was blocking that. It seems the "direct" payments are handled by a company called "Global Collect" so you need to allow scrips for the SQEX account to connect with them.

I was getting an error initially, but was due to noscript. After you choose your card type and it takes like 3 seconds to load the frame to enter your card details, at that point your noscript will have an option to allow gcsip.com which is globalcollect, and appears to be who the payments are now routed through.

Once I allowed that site and then entered my info I got an acceptance notice.

So if you are getting a rejected error, check your noscript.

Ok so ran into a snag. Initially I had just gone onto SE account management site and chose option in left menu for Register/Update payment method and entered my card. However this morning I woke to a closed acct and an email from SE saying that my Crysta did not go through. So i go back to site, did what I did before, no change.

It appears that besides just going to Register/Update payment method, you also need to further down the menu under Service and Options (at bottom) and then choose Select Service and then choose FFXI, then "option list" button From there the payment details tab still listed crysta, and there is an "update" button you need to use to the change it to the card option, so it uses the credit/debit card you entered in first steps.

Thanks for that warning, will save a lot of messing about trying to figure what domain I need to allow.

Also someone's looked into globalcollect from FFXI AH..seems they're owned by Wells Fargo bank.

If that helps. I left wells fargo due to stupid fees(namely a debit card fee they were going to charge, but backed out after the people yelled at them and they had too many leave) but they ARE a solid and reputable bank. I wouldn't go back to them for my accounts but I don't mind dealing with them outside of that :D

Yeah, they're a good bank but are horrendous for loans. Not their rates (which I'm sure suck), but how they handle billing. When I bought my Altima back in '00 it was financed through them. Throughout the next 14 months of my payments then ended up losing nine (this was back when us old timers sent in checks for everything!). I ended up working for a local bank after the first few months and once I was eligible I ended up re-financing with my bank's interest rates because I got tired of having to fax proof of the debit on my account each and every time.

I know this is a bit late but I'm glad to have it. The credit card me and neko used on Click and Buy was due to expire as well; I just updated it using the direct pay option (Thank you Gatero and Shibaaa; went though without a hitch). If the payment goes though on the 27th, me and Neko are going to cancel the Click and Buy account with CONSIDERABLE MALICE.

Goodbye Click and Buy, I never want to see you again!
