I really enjoyed FFXI "back in the day", and thought I'd revisit to see how it's doing now. Unfortunately, I've been relocated to China for a year. China seems hit and miss with MMOs as I can play WAR, but not EQ2. Can play EQ1 but not Vanguard. So I was wondering if anyone knows if FFXI can be played from a Chinese IP? I made the mistake of reactivating EQ2 and not being allowed to play and don't want to fork over even more money for nothing. Thanks to anyone who knows!

I was in Guangzhou (Canton) a little over a year ago, and could not connect to FFXI except through a proxy (I had no problem connecting while in Taiwan)

Also, a lot of places in China stick you behind multiple layers of NATs, which can cause all sorts of problems.

I spent half a year at Shen Zhen, China for work and FFXI worked perfectly at the hotel I stayed at. So ya, FFXI works at least in Shen Zhen

I'm currently in Taiwan right now, I was wondering if I need to setup the proxy in POL viewer before I log into the game?
If so, can you guys please help post some guides or links so I can start playing soon. Thanks!!
