Purgonorgo Isle.

When I retired a previous pair of characters I took then there before logging out for the last time. I love that place and it used to be unusual to see anyone but the occasional RMT fishing bot or some THF/ killing the slimes for that cooking ingredient (forget what now). Sadly, that event that introduced tele-pornoisland items ruined it and made it too easy to get to. /cry

Still, watching the sun set from the western beach is one of the great moments in FFXI for me, probably only bettered by the visual awesomeness of the Empyreal Paradox.

I hate hot, I hate humid, but I love me some catgirls. Kazham it is.

Otherwise. A nice place in lower or port Jeuno wouldn't be too bad. Close to plenty of business and the means to visit any of the other towns.

Which is why I pick Ru'Aun Gardens. Best defenses against zombie invasion.

Cities are the worst place to be in. Rich feeding ground for zombies, and you will be surrounded by mentally unstable survivors who at best tell you their relative 'has been bitten but is going to be okay!' and at worst open the barricaded doors to 'rescue' Fufu from the zombie horde banging on the same barricade. And ofcourse, any 'safe' place will be a magnet for the other survivors, some proving to be more opportunistic then others...

Teehee. Seedling, you're thinking of Ru'Lude Gardens in Jeuno. Ru'Aun Gardens is sky. You have Arcana protecting the entrance, who are classically anti-Undead. Then you have the gate and teleporter to actually get in. Not to mention a lively area outside where food can be grown, and birds to eat. Really, there is no better place.

Pre-zombie invasion: The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. Beautiful and peaceful. Love the wellsprings, love the trees, love the leeches. And walking distance to the Boyahda Tree -- what better place to eat some of the native fungi, trip balls, and pretend you're in a Dr. Seuss book?

Post-zombie invasion: probably not conducive to the lifestyle described above; I agree that Ru'Aun Gardens is the place to be.

Hmm, well I would always keep a house in Windurst. It's a great place to study magic and it was my home in FFXI. And I just love Tarus!

I think I would also want a house in Jeuno. There seems to be more going on there and you would be able to meet with people from all over. There is no shortage of shops, taverns and other forms of entertainment. You also have three adjacent zones to explore. Easy transportation to the lush jungles for a quick weekend getaway is also a plus.

And if I were really rolling in the gil, I'd buy an island in Purgonorgo. Sometimes you just need to get away!

Or mauled by a Courel, or stepped on by a Goobbue while you were sleeping.

I don't get the impression that Goblins are that stupid (unless you're resting, and therefore possibly AFK). I know I wouldn't attack anyone who is both A) tripping on mushrooms, and B) capable of casting high-level black magic at will.

Sea is just as good. There are plenty of "fish?" and "squid?" to eat, you have a shark, ufo, z'dei, mutant plant, and killer disco ball defense system if the zombies manage to hitch a ride on the airship or walk across the bottom of the sea to get there. You have Aerns and Quasilumins to converse with, and if you get bored you can ascend to pure light or use Empyreal Paradox to pick off random zombies across Vana'diel.

So tempted to move to Dangruf Wadi. I want to be alone and this is an area people forget about. And the Hot Springs there of course.

It was just a shot in the dark. ^^

I'm actually quite tickled about the possibility of Jeuno turning back into a hub for players. That would bring back a lot of memories. If they would just add a warp Taru, the deal would be sealed, I would think.

Aside from being a fun talking point, this thread answered a question that would have bugged me for ages if I had had to track it down myself, so I thought I'd bump it, both to help anyone else with that answer, and to ensure everyone is preparing for the immanent zombie apocalypse in a few months time (December 2012 apparently).

As for the answer to this question (since it would be rude to bump a 2 YEAR OLD THREAD without offering an answer to the original question!), I'd buy myself an airship and fly all over the world. The area you zone into would be set up as the living areas (bedroom, bathroom, etc). The airship deck would have a pool installed with a fully stocked bar in the middle that would be run by two NPCs, one who handles Abyssea warps and the other who handles outpost warps.

The pilot would have to be Cid from Bastok of course, we'd bring him out of retirement to fly us around the world. Regular stops would be made at all the major cities to pick people up, with the ultimate goal of becoming a party ship.

Once a week, a trip would be made to one of the crags around Vana'diel where we'd have a poolside movie night, projecting up onto the side of the crag. "Weekend At Bubbly Bernie's" would instantly become a cult hit. Various Dhalmel related films would also become popular.

We'd throw the Zilart into some sort of research facility until they work out a way to replicate the crystal telepoints, and then stick one on the ship so the White Mages of Vana'diel can start using "Teleport-Party" magic. There'd be at least one Red Mage in attendance at all times complete with pimp hat, and all that that would entail on a boat full of young impressionable Mithra!

Can probably think of more but that's probably enough to start *laughs*

I would have to find a place with no mobs and not a lot of people.. Without giving it much thought, I would have to say Cat Island.

If I had absolutely anywhere. I would say Ulegrand range. Snow, secluded, great montain top views Or grauberg if I suddenly got tired of snow. If had to pick a city or town I would go with bastok.Especially since my adept gold smithing probably go a long way in making me financially secure.

If you want secluded, try Diorama-Purgonorgo (where Brenner is held). Peaceful tropical island like real Purgonorgo and no one ever goes there! It might be the most off the beaten track place in FFXI.

I'd buy the only toilet in the game. Then charge a 5 million door fee to use it.

A week later I buy Vanadiel. Mwahahaha.
