Well, my account got hacked. Not exactly sure when it happened though.

Last time I was online was Saturday night around midnight. I do use Mozilla Firefox/Adblock/NoScript and everything, but I do occasionally use Internet Explorer from time to time without thinking.

I do not visit any "known" malicious sites. The only sites I recall looking at on Internet Explorer were this site, and BlueGartr forums.

However, when I tried to log on Sunday early afternoon for my LS's ZNM event, my ID/Pass were no longer working.

So now I have to wait until Tuesday to call SE and get my account locked/password reset/rollback.

I did try to get on Vent and speak to some people I knew, but they all said I wasn't online. No one on my friend list was online at the time so they weren't able to tell me if they could see me online, and if so, if my character was on another server or not.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do now....

You're welcome. Smiley: smile By the way, KeyScrambler's free version doesn't just work with Firefox; it also works with IE and Flock, a Mozilla-based browser geared towards those who frequent social networking sites.

EDIT: as of yesterday KeyScrambler is up to version 2.5; it's supposed to work better with Firefox 3.5 now.

I had to reset my password today. I was logged on yesterday and got off. A few hour later I tried to get on but my pass word wasn't working. Today I had it reset and all is well but still scary. BTW I have a security token. Maybe thats why my sh*t was still there? IDK.

Scary to say the least.

If you were possibly hacked, and you have SE reset your password, will that 'fix' things?

Of course, you wouldnt have your items/gil back (IF hacked), but would you regain control of your account/characters?

Everyone is talking about SE resetting their passwords and such.
SE would not let me reset mine because apparently whoever had my account immediately changed the phone number and billing address.
All they would let me do was lock it down and then sent me this sheet I have to get notarized and send back to them.

but... some of them were on console only

The biggest common thread we've found isn't a console, or PC use (a PS2 user without a token got hacked).

The only common thread has been visiting FFXIAH and FFXIclopedia. That's it.

#110REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2009 at 10:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol @ sub defaulting me because some of yall love windower. Everyone I talked to who had been had hacked with the token all said they used windower along with FFXIAH and/or FFXIclopiedia. Don't understand why people want to insist on skipping that fact but that's ok I'm just bringing up that point. Want to keep scratching your heads when another big factor to token hacking is windower.

This is the internet, you don't get special treatment for being mentally retarded. Accept your rate downs and go sit in the corner with your dunce cap.

People trying to figure and help each other out on how not get hacked yet they want to continue and skip over one important factor? Just hilarious sure sure I'm the one who needs the dunce cap.

You find it funny that you're being rated down because you made a baseless assumption, that furthermore was obviously incorrect?

Surely I am the one acting retarded here.

#114REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2009 at 11:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It is funny. And my statement is not baseless. To you maybe but it's really not. There's really no point in playing a game on a third party tool while using the token. How much sense does that make? But I'm guessing since you started with the name calling. You use windower right?

Mmhmm, and I supposed those people who don't even have the game installed on their computer that got hacked, and were mentioned in this very thread, are using windower on their computer.

Right?

My guess is on FFXIAH. I use the site on my second computer on internet explorer and I've noticed random pop ups and it randomly closing and relocating me to other spam sites. I've even had it close the window and open a new window on one of those RMT sites before.

There's a reason I search FFXI related websites on my second computer.
#117REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2009 at 12:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You obviously didn't read what I said. Think all you saw was "windower" and down rated everything I said. It's still in this thread if you want to read it. Like I said not going to fight on the internet. I said nothing about consoles. And also said nothing about the people responding here.

I'm sorry, you're a moron if you think a person who only plays on the PS2 uses Windower.

That's why I rated you down: Reading comprehension fail.
#120REDACTED, Posted: Sep 08 2009 at 3:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think you need reading comprehension. I wasn't even talking about PS2 user, but pcs. Since I don't play on console I don't even know if they could use token. All the people I have spoken to play on PC and used windower were hacked. So essentially you fail. scratch that. Obviously I'm not talking to anyone mature. At least I thought you were. My mistake. Not going to argue with you people anymore. Stick with you know since you can't seem to take information from other sources then your own. Have a nice night.

Your statement was that all users who got hacked and use a token use windower. This was 100% wrong. You then made a second post whining about getting rated down. You also followed it up by saying that we're the ones who fail at reading.

You haven't shown much maturity.

Only thing Sancha has really shown is an unwillingness to admit that he's wrong, and not understanding that ******** about being rated down only equals more rate downs.

I'm a bit surprised he hasn't hit unrated yet.

The common thread noted was FFXI AH usage, not Windower usage. The two are completely separate.

No where in this thread did anyone mention that their friends who were hacked used Windower.
