Phobia of SE customer service ; ;Follow

Well, after 5+ years of playing, I have to call the dreaded customer service tomorrow.

I've never had a single problem over the years and I'm thankful for that. I just got home and tried to log in and it said my pw or name was incorrect. I was last on 2 days ago.

I wish I'd read some of the numerous "hacked" threads I've seen in the past. I've never had a problem, so I knew I wouldn't have any helpful advice for anyone in those regards.

I've had the same pw the whole time I've played and I've never shared it. I'm gonna blame myself for not changing it regularly like I should. I hope it's just a mix up or something. The only thing out of the ordinary I've seen recently is about credit card info. At the beginning of august, it said the cc I was using will expire at the end of month. It has since been renewed just like in the past. I recently remember seeing something about the user agreement changing and something to do with payment stuff. If this is the cause, would it tell me my pw or login was incorrect?

Man, I know this crap has probably been written/asked about a million times. I apologize for that. I'm just bummed out.

They're not so bad as long as you ask them about something they know how to answer. For me, I generally contact them through their online Web Chat program because I hate talking on the phone (especially with people I don't know.)

Just be sure to have a book or another game ready while waiting for them to respond.

Unfortunately, no. Their hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm PST Monday through Friday.

Also, it now seems they have a special line just for people who have been wrongfully banned Smiley: eek

Well, my fears have been confirmed. I tried to be optimistic ; ;

I called a friend and had him log on right after I started this thread a few hours ago. I asked him to keep searching for my char. He sent me a txt about 15min ago asking if I was on, to which I replied, "#$%& I hope you're kidding." He immediately called me and said my char was in sandy. I had logged out last in Whitegate as blu. He said it was changed to bst. My guess is that changing jobs is the quickest way to unequip my stuff. It was logged on for no more than 5 min. He never saw any activity on either mule. But, he didn't think to search for them until after I brought it up on the phone when my main logged out.

My friend called a GM to see if anything could be done. The GM asked if he could get in contact with me. So, he called me back and got the info on my char's and they were able to lock my account and make a note on my account about the GM contact.

It's probably accurate to assume my rare/ex stuff is gone and the AH has been restocked. /sigh

So, I guess I'll check ffxiah in the morning before work.

Anyone else to which this has happened, I'm sorry. I now feel the pain.

You definitly didn't fall prey to the phising attempts did you? I'll guess you don't have a security token. Either way, it really sucks I hope they get it all worked out for you.

As for losing your rare/ex stuff, are hackers really that big of ********? Anyone have a restored hacked account where the hackers took the trouble to toss the user's rare/ex gear?

When my account was taken they just gutted everything worth selling, npced the rest I assume, but they left all the rare/ex stuff. They even cashed in on ISP and sell it as well as trading in conquest points for armor to sell if they have enough time.

My account rollback took 3 months(they made me pay my monthly fees still too lolse)actually and you can only have one rollback. If you play on the pc and 6 months later you get keylogged/hacked again you are SOL. They will not roll back your account again. Also they rolled back my account by about 3 months, I lost op warp quests, my teleport altep scroll, the progress I had made in nyzule climbing. It's not fun at all. I've heard of people having thier accounts rolled back as much as 6 months so I hope you haven't done too many important things lately.

My girlfriend is always using the comp to surf the internet so I can't really bring myself to trust my pc with ffxi again. I ended up getting FFXI for my xbox and I currently play on that. While I miss playing on the pc, and the xbox is a pain in the *** I know I won't be losing my account again anytime soon.

Tossing Rare/EX stuff takes time and gets no results. The only reason I could see them bothering with tossing it is if they need the inventory space, like they're planning on using your character either to hold or to move large amounts of items. I doubt they'd try that, since anything they moved onto your character would be lost to them the moment it got locked.

Even if they did drop all your gear, I'm sure you'd want to do a character restore. That would get back any items they dropped.

You have my sympathies... I've never gotten hacked, but I always lived in fear of it. I can imagine what you're going through. If it happened to me, I'd just feel sick.

Edit:
Wow, Menion, that's awful. A couple people in my Linkshell got hacked and got a roll back, but they got rolled back to only a few days to a week. That's a LOT less painful than 3-6 months.

If I remeber correctly they tell you that they could roll back the account as far as a year. :/ They basically just review the account and roll it back to when they figure your account was comprimised. In my case I had taken about a 4 month break, came back played for a few months and then my account was taken. They rolled it all the way back to when I had taken that 4 month break. ; ;

Well, I got my pw reset and was able to log on to see the damage done.

First thing I noticed was my pretty little overly used blau was gone. Then I lit a cigarette before looking in my locker where my brd gear is stored....as I would say to my 2yr old son, "Sha'ir go byebye." The only way I even afforded that set was from a close friend who quit, and gave me a present. Furniture was gone with the rare/ex stuff just layin on the floor.

Had about 200k on 1 mule and 700k on the other, both wiped to 0. However, out of some sick sense of sarcasm of keeping a smile on my face, they left my main with 5,865 gil.

Besides the rare/ex stuff, the only stuff they didn't take were some low lvl instruments, and for some reason, a demon slayer. Must've been in a hurry. Oh yeah, and they didn't take my damn goldfish bowl. I'm glad cuz someone gave that to me like 4yrs ago, and they don't play anymore.

I can't even figure out what all was taken. All of my storage areas were scattered and there's no order to any of it. It's so eerily comparable to a rl robbery.

Anyways, I'm really counting on the rollback. I think imma go fishing!

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad you posted this thread though--I just received the "Incorrect password/ID" message as well and was kind of clueless as to where to seek help.

I guess I will have to wait until Monday to contact SE. In the meantime, I'll notify my ingame friends and see if they can help freeze my account... though I haven't logged on in a couple of days so it may be too late :S

By the way, what kind of information did SE ask for when you contacted them? I should probably get that ready to make the process go smoother.

I think half the time they toss some extremely rare drops just to **** off the original owner when they get the account back.

RMT hate us because we report them. I can totally see them taking revenge on us for that.

I thought of it first:

When I got a friend's account locked when he got hacked they asked for his e-mail on the account, Name of each char and the ranks, job lvls, race and gender. Sucked cause only give them like half of the info but it got locked though.

They must have been working hard lately because the same thing happened to me. I tried logging on last night and got the incorrect PW message. I was so disappointed that I was actually gonna quit until I saw that I could get all my stuff back with a rollback. Thanks for the post.

I just hope it's not too much trouble. This is my first time ever having this done and I play on xbox so that's surprising. Those RMT bastards are making an a$$load of me...Novio, Herald's Gaiters, Cursed mitts -1, and 10mil gil just off the top of my head. /sigh

Count me in on the hacked list. Logged out last night, this AM my password doesn't work and I am starting to see some items I had in my Mog Safe being sold on the AH (looking at AH website).

3 more hours until their support center opens...

I am on the hacked list as well.
Logged in Tuesday for dyna - logged out after.
Has a busy week, tried to login Friday night "incorrect id/password"

2 hours 40 mins.
I wonder how many people total got rocked from this and how many people will be all over that center when it opens at noon?

(BTW for the record, I played on ps2 and moved to xbox360. I have NEVER entered my id and password into a computer anywhwere aside from 1 single time - joining the LS community site a long long time ago)

I think the wait is gonna be long Monday morning - my boyfriend is on the hacked list as well. The ironic part of the situation is I'm the one that plays on our PC - he plays on his PS3.

I'm leaning more and more to the LS Community page being involved - I *think* you could brute force there without locking the account.

As was said this really does seem to be a breach in thier security rather than on our own machines, it is the only sensible answer. It's just sad that it is happening now when SE don't really have the manpower to do anything about it, they are too concerned with ff14.
#22 Aug 31 2009 at 7:41 AM Rating: Default
i made a thread last wednesday called "getting hacked right now" , basically the same thing happened to me. weird thing is that it seems i was the only one that the hackers got server transfers for all his chars & mules.

Its been roughly 6 days since it happened and i'm still waiting for an answer by SE to see if they will or will not approve my rollback.

once anything new happens i will update that thread since i've been keeping records of it all.

Update: Got my password reset.

My main and mules are stripped of anything of value, and I've been transfered to a different server.

Time to get the rollback in motion I guess.

stick it out , usually takes like 1h 30 mins or so for them to respond

just be sure to have all your information on hand , if not theyll close the chat window.

and youll have to go get that information and wait another 1h 30mins on hold.

Damn, I can't believe all these ppl are gettin hacked, too. This is really a bummer.

It's been 12 days since I submitted my info to go ahead with the rollback. I haven't heard anything back from SE yet and my acct is still locked.

My biggest surprise is that I'm not angry. I think that's a sign that I should hang up the daggers. If this had happened a few yrs ago, I would've been so pissed off. I'm disappointed, but it's just not bugging me like I had imagined an event like this would. I think I'm gonna take my farewell and give myself a break from mmo's until XIV releases.

I hope SE gets this stuff worked out. Good luck to all those going thru the rollback ^^
